Backend Software Engineer will report to the Software Development Manager of OvrC Commercial and will be responsible for evaluating new and legacy code bases and selecting architecture that is appropriate for the desired customer experience utilized by thousands of smart living automation systems.This position will develop and update RESTful APIs using the latest best practices and tools and frameworks, test automation, API management, and documentation.This position will require a motivated self-starter as part of a global team who can manage working in a fast-paced environment across many different project categories and technologies.The Software Engineer II will work cross functionally and should be able to influence other team members without direct authority.This position will require effective collaboration with team members. The successful individual will demonstrate intellectual curiosity, accountability, attention to detail, and business acumen. 


JOB DUTIES: 

  • Develop backend API’s, utilizing AWS cloud technologies 
  • Develop frontend web application as occasion requires 
  • Beamajor contributor withina highly productive engineering organization 
  • Work with team members to iteratively design and discover functional, architectural and quality requirements 
  • Individually author unit tests and integration tests, in addition to collaborating with QA team members to ensure features are rigorously tested 
  • Define, socialize, monitor and enforce operational quality standards, such as scalability, performance, monitoring, error reporting, etc. 
  • Demonstrate the standards of commitment, accountability, customer focus, and quality expected of the team by example 

YOU MUST HAVE: 

  • Minimum 3 years of experience designing, implementing, and supporting modern, enterprise-scale web applications 
  • Experience in at least 2 of the following languages: Java, C#, Go, Rust, Javascript, Python 
  • Knowledge in OOP design patterns 
  • Experience developing RESTful APIs 
  • Database experience, such as: PostgreSQL, SQL Server, Mongo, AWS DynamoDB 
  • Strong knowledge of testing, and experience with unit testing and integration testing 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively convey technical concepts to technical stakeholders

  • Experience with AWS cloud components such as: Lambda functions, EC2, EKS, API Gateway, S3
