At Wolt, we create technology that brings joy, simplicity and earnings to the neighborhoods of the world. In 2014 we started with delivery of restaurant food. Now we’re building the delivery of (almost) everything and you’ll find us in over 500 cities in 30 countries around the world. In 2022 we joined forces with DoorDash and together we keep on dreaming big and expanding across the globe.
Working at Wolt isn’t always easy, but it’s definitely exciting. Here you’ll learn more, build more, and ship more than in most other companies. You’ll be challenged a lot, but also have a lot of fun on the way. So, if you’re a self-starter with drive and entrepreneurial spirit, this could be the ride of your life.
Are you excited about building the systems that keep Wolt running for millions of customers every day? We’re looking for a pragmatic Backend Developer with strong skills in Python or Go to join our Consumer Platform team–the crew behind the core consumer infrastructure and reliability efforts that make Wolt fast, stable, and scalable.
The Consumer Platform team plays a central role within Wolt’s engineering organization. We design and maintain the backend components that power Wolt’s consumer-facing experience–from critical purchase flows to the underlying systems that ensure reliability at scale. The team combines hands-on software development with elements of DevOps and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), continuously improving how our systems perform and how our teams deliver.
Known across Wolt for driving cross-team technical initiatives, the team works on challenges that impact the entire platform. Recent projects include scaling our purchase core to support split payments, developing an API gateway for Wolt’s most critical flows, and partnering with other teams to raise reliability standards company-wide.
Location: Our team is primarily based in Finland and Sweden.
What you’ll be doing
- Build and maintain high-throughput critical backend services in Python and Go
- Work across the complete development lifecycle—from architecture and design to deployment and monitoring
- Drive cross-team reliability initiatives and improve the scalability of Wolt’s platform
- Design and implement core services, shared libraries, internal tooling, and platform-level improvements that empower other teams and support our global consumer economy
- Define reliability best practices that make Wolt’s systems more robust
Our Tech Stack: Python, Go, MongoDB, Redis, Datadog, CI/CD pipelines, Kubernetes, AWS.
Our humble expectations
We’re looking for someone with:
- Solid experience in backend development using Python, Go, or similar languages.
- A passion for core engineering problems like system design, optimization, and scalability.
- Experience working on high-traffic, production systems.
- (Bonus) Familiarity with reliability engineering or on-call practices.
- Strong ownership mindset and curiosity — someone who likes to understand how things work under the hood.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate across teams
- A pragmatic, product-oriented mindset focused on solving real user problems
We’re committed to growing and empowering a more inclusive community within our company, industry, and cities. That’s why we hire and cultivate diverse teams of people from all backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives. We believe that true innovation happens when everyone has room at the table and the tools, resources, and opportunity to excel.
