Job DescriptionThe Business Operations Tooling team is a product-focused team dedicated to building and improving the essential tools required by the Operational teams. Their primary goal is to enable each Operational person to efficiently maximise the amount of high-volume business customers they can serve by centralizing data, simplifying workflows, and automating time-consuming tasks. The initial phase focuses on leveraging Salesforce to quickly deliver value before developing bespoke internal tools.
The Backend Engineer role for the Business Operations Tooling team is about defining the product and building the tooling, focusing on increasing the operations team capacity and improving the value of the service Wise provides to Business customers. Key initial projects involve data integration and building alerting mechanisms.
Key Responsibilities
- Tool Development: Building a collection of tools, including but not limited to automated data population in Salesforce and the internal product for suspended accounts alerting.
- Product Roadmap: Actively participate in product definition and roadmap of the team
- System Integration: Exporting data from Wise's internal systems to support the tooling and working with API endpoints.
- Process Automation: Implementing solutions to automate time-intensive operational jobs, directly contributing to the goal of reducing the time to serve a business customer.
Required Experience
- Proficiency in backend development and API design. Experience with database technologies and integrating with third-party platforms like Salesforce is valuable. Experience with building reliable, scalable internal tools is also a good plus.
Strong hands-on experience of Java (8+) and Spring Framework.
Deep understanding of microservices and event-driven architectures.
Product mindset — you think about customer impact, not just technical implementation.
Strong communication style, working across multiple functions. Good conflict resolution and problem solving skills.
Nice to Have
Financial background would be a good plus.
Startup experience, iterating fast while bringing value.

Starting salary: €4,250 - 5,550 gross/monthly + RSUs
