Position Summary
The Back End Specialist will fit, assemble, install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical plant equipment. Ensure strappers, conveying, necker, inside spray, palletizer, decorator, ovens, and wrapper machines are operating at peak efficiency within quality specifications.
Essential Functions/Key Deliverables
- Perform overall maintenance of machines according to maintenance plan.
- Repair and test equipment to specification.
- Trouble shoot faulty equipment, assemblies, and repair or replace defective parts.
- Check accuracy and quality of finished parts, tools, or sub-assemblies.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings and specification.
- Proficient with use of precision measurement equipment and tolerances including feeler gauges and dial indicators.
- Ensure regular maintenance and troubleshooting of problems with machinery.
- Train and develop employees on the concepts of TPM (total preventative maintenance).
- Assist with the implementation and maintenance of systems, including performing internal audits as required.
- Assist with maintaining good housekeeping
- Lead and direct operators in maintenance and housekeeping
- Perform any other duty reasonable corresponding with the role.
Knowledge/Skills/Experience
- Vocational education a plus (Mechanical, Technical or similar).
- 3 years’ experience as a Mechanic or Maintenance Specialist in manufacturing/industrial environment.
- Problem solving skills.
- Ability to work independently or as a team.
- Basic knowledge of welding, plumbing, and fabrication a plus.
- Knowledge of occupational health and safety, fire-prevention, and environmental protection regulations.
