THE OPPORTUNITY: 
In the role of Back End Engineer at TechInsights, you will collaborate closely with Software Development Architecture and Development teams to design software systems that meet business requirements, maximize customer value and propel TechInsights’ platform for years to come. In this exciting role you will identify and mitigate design and development risks, provide real-time DevOps support, document technical knowledge and mentor developers. Acting as technical guide, you will ensure code quality and that design intent is preserved. You will also explore feasibility through Proof-of-Concept (PoC) development with a focus on image rendering, data processing, videos, blogs, streaming, asset management, RESTful microservices, GraphQL, GraphDb, serverless, cloud native design, data science/machine learning, and much, much more. In this role, you will operate as a senior contributor, facilitating knowledge transfer and participating in technical debates to refine designs.
WHAT YOU WILL DO 
Designs Software Systems That Meet or Exceed Business Requirements

• Identify and mitigate software development risks before development begins.
• Design technical solutions for the Platform Architecture, including recommending technology stacks, designing for scale and security, and adapting Infrastructure as Code (IAC).
• Ensure platform reliability and code quality.
• Coordinate with the Architecture team for technical investigations and recommendations on buy/partner decisions.
• Implement Proof-of-Concept (PoC) models for challenging technical solutions.

Provide Technical Oversight of Software Development Teams

• Provide technical supervision, validate technical proposals, and act as a knowledge resource for developers. Present Proof-of-Concepts (PoCs) and ensure alignment with their work when applicable.

Provide DevOps Support 

• Build, retain, and document all intellectual property related to TechInsights’ software Platform and embody knowledge about its workings.
• Provide end-customer technical support during high-severity platform situations, share coverage for after-hours support, and engage in real-time problem-solving and code changes to remedy critical bugs.
• Collaborate with development teams during business hours to correct bugs.

WHO YOU ARE 

• Post-secondary education in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience
• 8-10+ years of experience in backend development and/or engineering
• Proven experience in building technical integrated products, ideally in a SaaS environment
• Deep understanding of software concepts and applications, with 8+ years of hands-on experience in software development
• Expert knowledge of programming languages, with strong familiarity with Java and Spring Boot
• Proficient in modern software management tools, including Jira and Confluence (or similar)
• Intermediate experience with Python
• Experience working in an Agile environment
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
