Project Overview:
Thermo Fisher Scientific in Uppsala provides comprehensive testing solutions to aid in the diagnosis and management of allergy and autoimmune diseases. At System R&D department, where this master thesis will be conducted, we focus on the development of software and instrument solutions.
This thesis opportunity is ideal for those who want to learn more about how the mechanical design of plastic parts is used in a real-life environment in a medical instrument providing cutting-edge allergy diagnostics.
Supported by a local team of mechanical, electrical, and software engineers, you will develop, design, produce, and test an alternate design to a current concept in development. Currently, this design needs a rotating movement to function as intended, but we believe that you can remove the dependency on a rotating movement.
This hands-on experience will provide you with practical knowledge of design, material, and rapid prototyping that will be beneficial for any careers pursued in product development.
You will learn:
How to use your theoretical education in a real-life scenario in product development.
How product development is driven in medical instrument development.
How to design, prototype and test concepts together with an experienced teamCAD, (Solidworks, Creo)3-D Printing.
You will need:
Fluency in Swedish and English.
Intermediate proficiency in a 3D CAD-program.
Ongoing bachelor’s level studies with a strong focus on product development.
Meticulous and interested in solving problem.
Curious, proactive, and interested in focusing your career on designing products for professional users.
