B Class Forming

Description

We are seeking a skilled B-Class Forming Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience in metal forming processes, including the operation of machines used to shape and form metal components according to specifications. As a B-Class Forming Technician, you will be responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining forming equipment, ensuring precision, and adhering to safety protocols while delivering high-quality products.

Requirements

Key Responsibilities:

• Forming Operations: Operate and set up metal forming equipment (such as press brakes, rollers, and stretch-forming machines) to shape and form metal materials according to specifications outlined in blueprints or work orders.
• Blueprint & Drawing Interpretation: Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and work orders to determine the correct materials, forming methods, and tolerances required for each project.
• Equipment Setup & Calibration: Set up and calibrate forming equipment, ensuring proper alignment, material handling, and machine settings to meet specific job requirements.
• Material Handling: Load and unload materials onto forming equipment. Ensure that materials are properly aligned and secured to prevent errors during the forming process.
• Quality Control: Inspect formed parts to ensure they meet specifications, tolerances, and quality standards. Make adjustments to the forming process as needed to ensure proper form and fit.
• Tool & Die Maintenance: Maintain and perform routine checks on forming tools, dies, and equipment. Report any maintenance or repair needs to management to ensure minimal downtime.
• Safety Compliance: Adhere to safety procedures and use personal protective equipment (PPE), such as gloves, safety glasses, and hearing protection, to maintain a safe work environment.
• Collaboration: Work closely with other technicians, engineers, and production teams to ensure smooth operations and the timely completion of projects.
• Documentation: Keep accurate records of materials used, work completed, and any issues that arise during the forming process. Provide reports as needed for production tracking.
• Process Improvement: Identify areas for improving the efficiency, quality, and safety of the forming processes. Suggest and implement process improvements where necessary.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. Additional training or certification in metal forming or machining is preferred.
• Experience:
• Minimum of 2-3 years of experience operating and setting up metal forming machines such as press brakes, rollers, or other related equipment.
• Familiarity with reading and interpreting blueprints, technical drawings, and work orders.
• Skills:
• Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to work with forming machines and tools.
• Attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality parts.
• Good understanding of material properties and their behavior during the forming process.
• Ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues that arise during the forming process.
• Ability to follow safety protocols and use PPE.
• Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with other team members.
• Basic math skills and proficiency with measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, etc.).

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs regularly.
• Ability to stand, bend, and work in physically demanding positions for extended periods.
• Comfortable working in a noisy, hot, and industrial environment.
• Must be able to wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), including gloves, safety glasses, and hearing protection.
