The Azure & AKS Operations Lead position will oversee Azure/AKS operations to ensure the environments health, stability, manage the daily cloud-based systems utilizing Azure and AKS cloud platforms to ensure the availability, performance and scalability of cloud based systems. The Lead is an expert in 24/7 operations with high performing and scaling systems that meet a high degree of uptime. An expert in all facets of Cloud hosting operations with the ability to effectively communicate with customers, and internal stake holders. The ideal candidate will have expert knowledge in Kubernetes (AKS) and automation and has previous hands-on experience in containerized environments using DevOps practices.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and provide direction for our Managed Service Provider (MSP).
  • Seek out and improve operations processes with an automation mindset.
  • Lead Managed Service Provider in operations for Azure Cloud environments.
  • Lead and participate in the Design, implementation, and Operation of infrastructuremonitoring solutions.
  • Provides cloud governance, processes and technical advisory support to business units and projects by working cross-functionally and provide recommendations that support the business needs.
  • Availability for 24/7 On-Call rotation
  • Participant as required (Level 2/3 escalation point) for Incident Management.
  • Participate and develop client relationships within Operations, Business partners, Managed Service Providers and Cloud services.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to support the engineering and implementation of new cloud applications or solutions and define the related risks and onboard new capabilities.
  • Ability to communicate at all levels within an organization and influence strategic direction.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision, making decisions based upon priorities, schedules and understand business initiatives.
  • Responsible for adherence to corporate standards regarding applicable corporate policies, including code of conduct, safety, and GxP compliance.
  • Measure
    • Responsible for setting reporting standards and reviewing the cloud reports.
  • Review
    • Observability/Monitoring, event correlation, Alerting and response to alerts, making and settings standards and policies.
  • Improve
    • Drives moderate to complex processing improvements through optimization, enhancements and implementation of new operational features and functions around cloud compliance, metrics/reporting and cost optimization.
    • Provide senior level expertise on decisions and priorities regarding the enterprises overall cloud operation strategy, consumption, and optimization opportunities. Understand Cost controls and the various cost optimization techniques.
    • Identifies, drives, and assists in the implementation of opportunities to standardize cloud environments.
    • Understand Cost controls and the various cost optimization techniques.
    • Understand reliability and performance aspects and make recommendations.
    • Capacity Management within the cloud environments.
    • Mentor the Operations organization and less experienced technical staff.
    • Service billing management. Utilize knowledge to detail cost drivers in cloud systems delivery and operations and the consequences of the technical decisions made by you and/or others.
  • Document
    • Strong documentation skills for updating and maintaining a Knowledge Base and knowledge articles. Establish required documentation, standards and policies.
  • Change Management
    • Working knowledge and hands on experience with Service Now and ITIL change management.
    • Participate in onboarding systems and services within the cloud environments.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Technology related field or 5 -8 years of related work experience; Technical background in healthcare or companies is preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years of working Cloud experience.
  • AKS container experience.
  • Established experience in Cloud Service development, compute engineering and automation.
  • Experience with Continuous Integration and Deployment Pipelines, i.e. Azure DevOps, Jenkins, Git, Git Hub.
  • Has hands on scripting experience using one of the following: Terraform, Cloud Formation, PowerShell, Azure CLI, Python, JSON, Perl or Bash.
  • Interacts well with diverse groups within function and maintains strong working relationships with internal and external entities.
  • Ability to influence others in the technology areas.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong background in Operations and/or Infrastructure Engineering.
  • AZ104 certification or higher (may need to obtain once on job)
  • Strong understanding of Azure services (IaaS, SaaS, PaaS,).
  • Strong understanding of services utilized by cloud vendors (Azure, AWS & Google).
  • Familiarity with Dynatrace, Azure Monitor, LogAnalytics, Cost Explorer, Splunk, TurboNomic, CloudAbility and other cloud management tools.
  • Understands the Well Architected Framework and has hands-on experience and implementation of Cloud solutions.
  • Azure Certified Solutions Architect.
  • Advanced knowledge preferred in Linux and/or Windows System Administration tasks including OS installation, configuration, troubleshooting and management. Linux User Management, Log Analysis, resource utilization and fine tuning.
  • Strong understanding of network and firewall principles.
  • Familiar with Service Now.
  • Background in regulated companies a plus (pharmaceutical, healthcare, financial institutions or similar).

Pay Range

The compensation range below reflects a good faith estimate of starting base pay for full time (40 hours per week) employment at the time of posting. The pay range may be higher or lower based on geographic location and individual pay decisions will vary based on demonstrated job related skills, knowledge, experience, education, certifications, etc.

$126,800 - $174,500 per year

This job is eligible for a bonus incentive plan. This incentive opportunity is based upon company and/or individual performance.
