Role: Azure Devops Engineer

Location: Alameda, CA (Onsite from Day 1)

Job Description:

An Azure DevOps Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining the DevOps infrastructure on the Microsoft Azure platform. Their role is crucial for streamlining software delivery processes, enabling continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD), and ensuring that software deployment is both fast and reliable. 

• Create, configure, and maintain CI/CD pipelines in Azure DevOps to automate code integration, testing, and deployment.

• Integrate source control systems (e.g., GitHub, Azure Repos) with the CI/CD pipeline.

• Automate the build, test, and deployment processes to ensure consistent and reliable software delivery.

• Utilize Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Azure Resource Manager (ARM) templates, Terraform, or Bicep to automate the provisioning of Azure resources.

• Develop and manage scripts to deploy and configure cloud resources, ensuring repeatable and efficient deployments.

• Collaborate with development and operations teams to design and implement scalable and secure infrastructure.

• Use configuration management tools like Ansible, Puppet, or Chef to automate environment setups and configuration.

• Automate routine tasks and deployments to improve efficiency and reduce manual errors.

• Manage and maintain the state of infrastructure across multiple environments (e.g., development, testing, and production).

• Set up monitoring and logging solutions to track the performance and health of applications and infrastructure in Azure.

• Utilize Azure Monitor, Application Insights, and Log Analytics to monitor application performance and proactively identify issues.

• Create dashboards and alerts to provide visibility into the state of the infrastructure and applications.

• Implement security best practices in CI/CD pipelines, including identity and access management, secrets management, and vulnerability scanning.

• Use Azure Key Vault for storing and managing sensitive information like passwords, tokens, and certificates.

• Ensure compliance with industry regulations and internal policies, such as data protection, backup, and disaster recovery.

• Work closely with developers, operations, and QA teams to streamline development processes and improve collaboration.

• Advocate for DevOps best practices and foster a culture of continuous improvement.

• Document processes, configurations, and best practices, making it easier for other team members to understand and follow DevOps workflows.

• Plan and coordinate release activities, ensuring that releases are smooth and have minimal impact on users.

• Define and manage release gates, approvals, and rollback strategies.

• Create a release calendar to manage multiple releases across different environments and applications.

• Continuously assess and optimize the performance and cost of the Azure infrastructure.

• Use tools such as Azure Cost Management to monitor and optimize cloud spending.

• Implement strategies to scale infrastructure dynamically based on demand and to optimize resource utilization.

• Diagnose and resolve issues within the DevOps infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, and deployed applications.

• Investigate incidents and implement preventive measures to avoid future occurrences.

• Provide support to development and operations teams to resolve build and deployment issues.

• Keep up-to-date with the latest Azure services, DevOps tools, and best practices.

• Participate in training, certifications, and community events to continually improve technical skills.

• Recommend and implement new DevOps tools and practices that can improve the efficiency and reliability of the CI/CD processes.
