Overview of the role:  
 
We have an exciting new role and are looking for an AWS DevOps Engineer to join our agile Data & Analytics tribe.

This role follows a hybrid approach to working, allowing you to combine working from home with working in our modern offices. These discussions are between you and your manager to find the best pattern for you both, while recognising that quality time together is essential for keeping our mission aligned. 
 
What you’ll do 

• As a DevOps Engineer, you’ll manage and govern Data Platform resources across various stages of the product lifecycle, from development to mission-critical production environments 

• You will play a key role in shaping this ecosystem, creating the conditions necessary for reliable and efficient operations, and maintaining cloud environments, data resources, and operational workflows 

• Your responsibilities will include managing the deployment process, monitoring, scaling, and performing operational tasks essential for secure and efficient code releases 

• You’ll build safe and efficient processes (e.g., CI/CD pipelines), instrument code to report relevant metrics, set appropriate alarms for key service indicators, and execute operational tasks safely and swiftly across large-scale resources 

• Work closely with squads to design, build, and optimize new products, while enhancing and supporting the ongoing development of existing solutions 

• You will actively monitor and optimize cloud usage, seeking cost-saving opportunities and implementing budget controls 

• Collaborate with Architects and Engineering and Development teams to implement and deliver robust, scalable data platform solutions 

What you’ll bring 

• You have at least 3+ years’ experience in DevOps, IT or relevant area 

• You are an automation expert and have proven ability to build CI/CD pipelines 

• You are an energetic person and proactive thinker; you have great organizational skills and can plan work independently  

• You are flexible and easily adapt to a rapidly changing environment  

• You have excellent written and verbal communication skills 
   

Skills required: 

• Trained or experienced with AWS cloud platform or having relevant certification. 

• Excellent understanding of AWS access control, IAM best practices and security auditing 

• Expertise with AWS network concepts 

• Deep understanding of Git philosophy and branching strategies 

• Expertise in deployment methodologies and operations 

• Familiarity with CI/CD tools like GitHub Actions, Code Pipeline, etc 

• Comprehensive knowledge of data processing and software development concepts 

• Proven ability to deploy and automate Amazon AWS infrastructure within an enterprise IaaC environment (Terraform/AWS CDK/CloudFormation) 

• You have an academic degree in Computer Science or IT/IS and/or relevant certifications 

• Able to produce written technical content; experienced in presenting to a mixed-skilled audience 

• Experience in DataBricks integration and administration is an advantage 

• Knowledge of one or more programming languages is an advantage
