- This is an opportunity for a technically minded individual to join us as a AWS Data Engineer
- You'll be Developing, maintaining and optimizing software and data structures while supporting migration, cleansing, enrichment, and testing activities
- You'll work data centric technologies and databases, with strong ability to understand complex enterprise data models
- You'll deliver solution designs, prototypes, implementations, and ongoing support for Private Banking and Wealth Management data platforms.

Working in a permanent feature team, you’ll be mapping the source platform source data to Enterprise Data Model and ensuring alignment within the cloud data lake and AWS Glue Data Catalog. It requires defining conceptual terms, enforcing reference data standards, and performing data quality checks while developing improvements. You will support option analysis and maintain ongoing data profiling across master data sources, and design data‑quality treatment strategies by delivering large‑scale data manipulation scripts along with the necessary testing and reconciliation routines.
You’ll also be:
- Designing and maintaining scalable, automated data pipelines to ingest core banking data into AWS using tools like Glue and Lambda
- Translating business requirements into effective, fit‑for‑purpose software solutions
- Contributing to the governance and population of the Data Marketplace, ensuring datasets are discoverable and well‑managed
- Implementing secure data access controls with AWS Lake Formation and collaborate with stakeholders to support cloud and core system enhancements
- Supporting the development and implementation of NatWest Group’s future data architecture
- Applying data architecture best practices including data mesh and data product principles to drive fast, stable, and lasting value.
We’re looking for someone with at least twelve years of experience with AWS cloud and data engineering. You'll bring strong expertise in analysing complex enterprise system data models, particularly within large‑scale environments such as core banking platforms and Enterprise‑Wide Object Models. You are proficient in SQL and procedural extensions like PL/SQL for advanced data extraction and querying. Additionally, you have hands‑on experience engineering and automating AWS‑based data pipelines using services such as AWS Glue, Lambda, and Step Functions.
You'll also need strong experience managing AWS‑based data lakes and data marketplaces, supported by solid data modelling, metadata management, and data quality governance skills. Your background includes executing complex data extraction and migration projects while ensuring data integrity, along with valuable banking domain knowledge across key areas such as clients, accounts, and transactions. Combined with strong analytical thinking and excellent communication, you effectively collaborate with both technical and business stakeholders.
Additionally, you’ll demonstrate:
- Experience of leading the implementation of programming best practice, especially around scalability, automation, virtualisation, optimisation, availability and performance
- Sound collaboration skills with the ability to work with business teams to produce pragmatic solutions that work for the business
- Experience of information security policies and practices within the financial sector
- Strong stakeholder management skills and communication skills with the ability to communicate complex technical concepts in a simple way
