Emerging Markets Equity Investment Strategist

Job Summary

The Investment Strategist will be part of AB’s global equity business development team and will partner with Portfolio Management and Distribution to promote and drive the growth of the equity business for AB. The Investment Strategist supports the efforts of the Team Lead for Emerging Markets equity products and the regional BD leader to ensure advisor support, product advocacy and competitive insight.

Job Description

Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Partner with Team Lead & Portfolio Management to create, maintain and update a strong, consistent suite of core product marketing and client-service materials, in collaboration with marketing colleagues.
  • Act as a spokesperson for the Emerging Markets equity platform with the ability to present a deep understanding of the investment process, market outlook, and strong advocate for the services
  • Explain portfolio performance and positioning by conducting attribution and risk reports in coordination with the  portfolio management teams
  • Be an Emerging Markets expert to support the EMEA and global sales teams in providing macro perspectives and local market expertise, collaborating with Emerging Markets Investment Strategists across other asset classes
  • Support Learning & Development for regional training initiatives
  • Assist on/review RFPs, and answer advisor/relationship manager questions on specific sales opportunities
  • Identify areas for thought leadership that connect with product responsibilities
  • In addition, the Investment Strategist is responsible for the following on their respective platform:
    • Review and update prospecting decks, fact sheets and product overviews for products on the equity platform
    • Update internal sources (e.g. Salesforce, the Loop, etc.); works with data team to ensure accuracy of database information
    • Partner with RFP team to respond to inquiries
    • Respond to incoming client inquiries and internal requests
    • Understand the competitive landscape and complete competitor analysis through Morningstar Direct and eVestment

Job Qualifications & Key Attributes

The ideal candidate should have:

  • Knowledge of Emerging Markets and Emerging Markets with equities and 3-5 years experience in the investment-management industry
  • Interested in the capital markets, and finding creative ways to connect with our clients & prospects globally
  • Strong attention to detail and good time management skills with the ability to work effectively under pressure and to meet deadlines
  • A team player with good communication skills both interpersonal and written
  • A desire to interact with internal and external clients to guide their Emerging Markets product knowledge and support our sales efforts
  • Strong academic credentials including numeracy and analytical skills, with the ability to understand, leverage and present data
  • Comfort working with many technology platforms, including a deep familiarity with Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Working-level knowledge of a major European language in addition to English would be a significant advantage
