Role Summary/Purpose:
The Cobrand Client Team is looking for a collaboration minded, multi-talented person to join our team. The ideal candidate enjoys working on a team and loves a good challenge.

The AVP, Virgin Technology is an individual contributor working in Synchrony’s Technology organization. The candidate will drive the day-to-day operations of the Virgin Red credit program and its related technologies, delivering continual service improvements, developing the platform and maintaining operational metrics. This role will be responsible for driving technology solutions to meet growth, productivity, and compliance objectives for our retail partner.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Provide relationship management, project management, production support, and technical expertise for Synchrony partners under the Digital sales platform

  • While this role will keep checklists and develop process documentation as appropriate – this is not a job where you follow a checklist or process. You are encouraged to figure out how best to meet a client’s expectations by being curious, asking questions, and connection with the broader SYF teams to solve unique client problems

  • Develop creative solutions to support business strategy or resolve issues by applying Synchrony’s technology capabilities

  • Drive and support technology development initiatives leveraging Agile processes, including client integration and functional/user acceptance testing

  • Maintain and communicate project status, milestones and critical issues with various stakeholders (leadership, business, client, and technology)

  • Develop understanding of partner’s systems environment and technology processes, and ensure alignment between Synchrony and partner’s technology teams

  • Participate in on-call rotation for Synchrony production issues that impact partners and cardholders

  • Perform other duties and/or special projects as needed

You are the right candidate if you…

  • You are naturally curious and an independent thinker who enjoys sharing ideas and solving problems.

  • Have tech chops: You need to be ready to get into the weeds on complex technology solutions.

  • You are able to see big picture, but know the devil is in the details. The AVP, Virgin Technology craves getting into the weeds on hard problems and figuring out how to make things work.

  • Have passion: Sure, you can triage, but are you passionate about finding solutions in a high-speed environment?

  • Have common sense: Building is important, but do you think through designs to ensure they’re the best solutions first?

  • Are slightly obsessed with solution design: Do you focus on failure scenarios, performance, data integrity, continuous improvement…all the good stuff?

  • Learn quickly and adapt to new technology: Let’s face it – technology changes by the minute. Are you able to quickly adapt and learn, and propose new solutions to improve the tech that powers our consumer experience?

  • Think like a customer: Central to our products is our understanding of our customers’ needs and requirements. Do you consider UX in your decision making, and think like a customer?

  • Think like a CIO and own all tech for the partner. Demonstrate understanding of complex systems and business impacts.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree and 4 years of Technology experience OR in lieu of degree, High School Diploma/GED and 8 years of Technology experience

  • Minimum 2 years of experience with leading initiatives, including gathering business requirements, planning and defining enhancements, and execution/delivery using Waterfall/SDLC or Agile frameworks

  • Superior verbal, written, and client communication skills, as well as the ability to manage expectations of the business, partners, team members, leadership, and external groups

  • Ability and flexibility to travel for business as required

Desired Characteristics:

  • Experience in managing relationships with external clients. Travel and/or Cobrand partnership experience preferred.

  • Experience in payments, banking, or financial services industries

  • Experience with Agile framework/methodologies, including proficiency with JIRA or related tools

  • Experience with API integrations, including design, testing support, and troubleshooting

  • Experience and knowledge of online technologies and development approaches

  • Demonstrated ability to be effective in a distributed organization with leveraged resources across various business and technology teams

  • Strong business acumen to understand Synchrony’s and retail partner’s business processes

  • Strong customer and client focus, with ability to manage expectations

  • Possess critical thinking, analytical, and influencing skills

  • Demonstrated competency with linking business strategy with technology initiatives
