Officer position responsible for the strategic development and deployment of Risk Control's analytical capabilities, technology solutions, engagement models, compliance, and process optimization.
Drives operational effectiveness and ensures the most strategic allocation of risk control resources to improve business outcomes. Leads and directs a team and is accountable for improved business results through delivery of enhanced risk control management reporting, research and analytical insights, risk control tools and technology solutions, risk control guidelines, and governance processes.
In conjunction with senior management, works within the highest limits of authority to reduce loss exposure, and to support and contribute to growth and profit of specified business units.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Performs a combination of duties in accordance with departmental guidelines:
- Drives implementation of strategic and operational objectives with significant impact on the success of advancing analytical capabilities for CNA Risk Control.
- Performs emerging trend analysis and critical research regarding business operations, the external economy, insurance industry trends, governmental legislation and regulations to determine impact on Risk Control policies and procedures as well as overall business goals. Provides essential analysis and reports findings to business partners and key stakeholders.
- Monitors new business and renewal activity to ensure Risk Control resources are strategically deployed in alignment with business unit objectives.
- Lead Risk Control strategic initiatives designed to improve efficiencies, productivity and customer service.
- Plans and oversees large, complex projects to elicit and review business requirements on key initiatives and address possible impacts on functional areas. Acts as a change agent to help facilitate effective deployments of and modifications to existing Risk Control processes and/or systems.
- Leverages deep understanding of CNA insurance lines to identify enterprise risk control opportunities and strategic partnerships to develop innovative solutions to mitigate claim outcomes and improve loss experience.
- Leads the vendor management function and has full management and oversight responsibility. Reviews and directs the evaluation and assessment of loss exposures and the application of risk control policies and guidelines Interacts and collaborates with Line of Business, Industry Segments and all other business partners in making decisions to drive continuous improvement to Risk Control results.
May perform additional duties as assigned.

Typically AVP or above.
Skills, Knowledge & Abilities
1. Mastery of the insurance industry and risk management marketplace and a broad understanding of the critical issues in other related areas. Working knowledge of theories and practices of risk control.
2. Mastery of multi-disciplinary analytical capabilities to develop insights and draw conclusions beyond what is readily apparent.
3. Passion for leveraging technology, tools and process improvements to develop innovative solutions and drive continuous improvement in business operations.
4. Excellent interpersonal, critical thinking and communication skills required to interact effectively with relevant business areas and external contacts.
5. Time management and organizational skills; ability to multi-task handling multiple parallel projects.
6. Strong computer skills including strong working knowledge in Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe and other business related software systems.
7. Technical knowledge of data modeling and advanced working knowledge in other related fields. Programming skills including working knowledge of Python preferred.
8. Leadership and management skills demonstrating integrity and professionalism.
Education & Experience
1. Bachelor's degree, preferably in business administration, finance, actuarial science, economics, risk management, or related duties of insurance.
2. Master's degree in quantitative analytics field preferred
3. Typically a minimum of twelve years of related work experience, with seven years management experience.
4. Experience in business process analysis, computer system implementations, change management, and analytical or research studies preferred.
