Summary:

The Associate Vice President (AVP), Procurement Services is responsible for the strategy, growth, operational excellence, and financial performance of Vizient's outsourced Procurement Services business. This role leads a large, high-performing team delivering end-to-end procurement solutions for healthcare provider organizations and serves as the executive leader responsible for scaling service offerings, driving client value, and expanding market presence. The AVP defines and executes the long-term vision for Procurement Services, ensuring alignment with client needs, market trends, and Vizient's broader Procure-to-Pay (P2P) strategy. This leader oversees all aspects of service delivery, including procurement operations, client success, technology enablement, process optimization, talent development, and business growth. As a key member of the P2P leadership team, the AVP partners closely with Sales, Product, Technology, Marketing, Legal, and Operations leaders to develop innovative solutions, support new business acquisition, and deliver measurable value for healthcare providers. The role carries full accountability for operational performance, client satisfaction, revenue growth, profitability, and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities:

People Leadership & Organizational Development

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of procurement leaders and professionals, fostering a culture of accountability, engagement, and continuous improvement.

  • Establish organizational structures, talent strategies, and workforce plans that support business growth and scalability.

  • Build leadership bench strength through succession planning, coaching, and professional development initiatives.

  • Set clear performance expectations and drive achievement of operational, financial, and customer success goals across the organization.

  • Champion employee engagement, retention, and talent development efforts to attract and retain top procurement talent.

  • Lead organizational change initiatives and transformation efforts that support evolving business and customer needs.

Sales & Growth Leadership

  • Partner with Sales leadership to develop and execute growth strategies that expand Procurement Services revenue and market share.

  • Own and achieve annual bookings, revenue growth, and client retention targets for the Procurement Services business.

  • Serve as the executive sponsor for strategic sales pursuits, participating in client presentations, solution design sessions, and executive negotiations.

  • Develop and maintain a robust sales pipeline in partnership with business development teams, ensuring achievement of growth objectives.

  • Identify opportunities to expand services within existing accounts through cross-selling, upselling, and expansion of Procurement Services offerings.

  • Build and strengthen relationships with executive decision-makers across prospective and existing client organizations to accelerate business growth.

  • Represent Vizient at industry conferences, customer forums, and thought leadership events to promote Procurement Services capabilities and generate market interest.

Strategic Leadership & Business Ownership

  • Define and execute the long-term strategy, operating model, and growth roadmap for Vizient's Procurement Services business.

  • Build and scale technology-enabled procurement solutions that drive efficiency, compliance, savings, and operational excellence for healthcare providers.

  • Identify emerging market opportunities, industry trends, and client needs to guide service innovation and future investments.

  • Develop business cases and recommendations for new service offerings, partnerships, acquisitions, and ancillary revenue opportunities.

  • Serve as a key member of the P2P leadership team, contributing to enterprise-wide strategic initiatives and growth objectives.

Financial & Operational Leadership

  • Maintain full accountability for Procurement Services financial performance, including revenue growth, profitability, forecasting, budgeting, and P&L management.

  • Lead end-to-end procurement operations across all outsourced client engagements, ensuring consistent delivery of high-quality services.

  • Establish and monitor operational KPIs, service-level agreements, and performance metrics to drive accountability and continuous improvement.

  • Implement scalable processes, governance frameworks, and best practices that enhance efficiency, standardization, and client outcomes.

  • Leverage automation, analytics, AI, and emerging technologies to improve productivity, service quality, and margin performance.

Client Success & Relationship Management

  • Develop and maintain executive-level relationships with key client stakeholders, serving as a trusted advisor and strategic partner.

  • Lead executive business reviews and governance meetings to assess performance, communicate value, and identify opportunities for expansion.

  • Ensure exceptional client satisfaction through proactive issue resolution, service excellence, and continuous process improvement.

  • Partner with clients to align procurement operations with organizational objectives and evolving business needs.

Business Development & Market Expansion

  • Serve as the executive procurement subject matter expert in support of sales pursuits, client presentations, and strategic growth initiatives.

  • Lead solution design, proposal development, and RFP responses for prospective Procurement Services engagements.

  • Partner with Sales and Marketing to develop go-to-market strategies, thought leadership, sales enablement materials, and market positioning.

  • Support implementation and transition activities for new client engagements to ensure successful onboarding and long-term client success.

Technology & Innovation

  • Partner with Product, Technology, and Digital Solutions teams to identify and implement innovative procurement technologies.

  • Drive adoption of automation, analytics, and AI-enabled solutions that improve procurement effectiveness and customer outcomes.

  • Monitor industry developments and competitive offerings to ensure Vizient remains a market leader in outsourced procurement services.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, Healthcare Administration, Operations, or related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred.

  • 10 ore more years of progressive leadership experience in procurement, supply chain, managed services, consulting, or outsourced business services.

  • 5 or more years leading large, multi-functional teams with responsibility for operational performance and talent development.

  • Demonstrated experience building, scaling, or transforming procurement operations or managed services organizations.

  • Strong financial acumen with experience managing budgets, forecasting, and P&L accountability.

  • Proven ability to develop executive-level client relationships and influence senior stakeholders.

  • Experience supporting sales pursuits, solution design, contract negotiations, and business development activities.

  • Knowledge of healthcare supply chain operations, procurement technologies, ERP systems, and Procure-to-Pay processes preferred.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead through change, drive innovation, and operate effectively in a matrixed organization.

  • Willingness to travel as needed.

Estimated Hiring Range:

At Vizient, we consider skills, experience, and organizational needs in our compensation approach. Geographic factors may adjust the range estimate and hires typically fall below the top range. Compensation decisions are tailored to individual circumstances. The current salary range for this role is $156,500.00 to $290,100.00.
