AVP, Mortgage Strategic Initiatives & Analytics

ACCOUNTABILITY STATEMENT
The Assistant Vice President of Mortgage Strategic Initiatives & Analytics supports the success of a fast-paced and high-performing mortgage organization by helping to champion process improvement practices and culture, which will enhance operational efficiency, employee, and member experience alike. The incumbent uses industry expertise and workflow knowledge to evaluate current mortgage processes and functions. When opportunities are identified, incumbent will develop a project plan that identifies the key steps and associated timelines. Will collaborate internally and externally to enhance our processes by leveraging functionality within our loan origination system. Responsible for managing wide-ranging mortgage projects that impact Real Estate Lending department. Also responsible for assisting on M&A due diligence and integration of acquired institutions.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

PROJECT MANAGEMENT

  • Responsible for leading and overseeing all project management activities within Real Estate Lending, driving strategic initiatives to achieve business objectives.

  • Oversees the change process to support mortgage department general projects as determined by the VP, Mortgage Strategy & Transformation.

  • Collaborate with senior leadership to define project requirements and objectives.

  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to streamline project management processes and deliverables.

  • Communicate project status, risks, and issues to stakeholders, ensuring transparency and accountability.

  • Assists the VP, Mortgage Strategy & Transformation with the delivery of strategic vision for the mortgage department, representing the VyStar pillars. 

  • Use innovative techniques to problem solve, handle multiple priorities, initiate change with innovative goals, identify areas of improvement, meet with stakeholders, and supervise innovation strategies.

  • Gather and review mortgage specific M&A information on identified prospective financial institution acquisitions to include, but not limited to, products, rates, pipeline, and any third-party contracts. 

  • The incumbent will assist the M&A process on the integration of mortgage activities from acquired financial institutions into VyStar. 

  • Responsible for collaborating with cross functional teams, and any identified third parties to document ongoing mortgage lending efforts needed on acquired institutions to prepare for Legal Day 1, through conversion and post conversion.

  • Act as the communications liaison, provide guidance, training, and resources needed to achieve successful project delivery. Facilitates problem solving and project resourcing and enforces project standards.

  • Exercise the ability to support confidential projects, initiatives, products, programs, and strategy.

PROCESS IMPROVEMENT & CHANGE MANAGEMENT

  • Lead and oversee the execution of change management initiatives across the department: planning, implementing, and solidifying changes in the mortgage department.

  • Support a mortgage and credit union culture focused on member service, continuous improvement, and performance measurement.

  • Interact with all levels of leadership and to document existing processes, manage and analyze data, and recommend enhanced business processes.

  • Oversees the change process to support the Real Estate Lending department general projects as determined by the VP, Mortgage Strategy & Transformation

  • Helps create and foster an environment in which continuous improvement in mortgage business processes and services is welcomed and recognized. 

  • Identify opportunities to improve work processes, enhance quality of service and productivity, and communicate opportunities to VP, Mortgage Strategy & Transformation.

  • Work with personnel and conduct site observations to ascertain the solutions, methods, and personnel needed for effective processes. This also involves staying up to date with the latest business best practices and technological developments that can help to automate and streamline processes to help businesses perform more efficiently.

  • Support the development and implementation of procedures necessary to support mortgage processes.

  • Interact with all levels of leadership and be able to document existing processes, manage and analyze data, and recommend enhanced business processes.

  • Manage the Real Estate Lending SharePoint site and document storage of department procedures, job aids, product guides, workflows, communications, etc.

  • Effectively lead teams, managing communication, delegation, motivation and problem-solving.  Teams include stakeholders and all levels in the organization. Conducts individual 1:1 and team meetings with staff to discuss initiatives, progress, goals, etc.

  • Identify and make recommendations to VP, Mortgage Strategy & Transformation.

DATA ANALYTICS

  • Develop actionable metrics to measure success of process improvement initiatives and effectively communicate the progress and results to Real Estate Lending leadership.

  • Oversee the collection, analysis, and interpretation of data to inform strategic decisions, drive innovation, and create department and member value.

  • Lead a team of analysts, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and data integrity, guiding the department through data transformation initiatives.

  • Drive continuous improvement efforts by establishing metrics to measure and monitor progress.

  • Manage the Mortgage Administration Reporting System (MARS) tool for the department, reviewing current projects, metrics, and timelines on initiatives.

TRAINING

  • Use knowledge and understanding of process improvement approaches to train and/or facilitate working sessions regarding business processes. 

  • Keeps abreast of mortgage department procedures and process changes and communicates information to training and necessary departments. 

  • Work with department leadership to assess training needs and support mortgage training initiatives, coordinate training with the VyStar Training department to enhance the learning and development for mortgage personnel and leadership.

  • Evaluate the effectiveness of the training programs through participant feedback, performance metrics and surveys.

  • Review the training materials on the Real Estate Lending SharePoint site to ensure accuracy for current business practices.

MARKETING

  • Assist the VP, Mortgage Strategy & Transformation aspects of mortgage marketing, ensuring all collateral adhere to brand standards and promote growth in a product or service for custom mortgage marketing materials. 

  • Work with the department Marketing partner to support the development and execution of marketing campaigns across multiple channels, including digital, social media, print and events.

  • Monitor and track the performance of marketing campaigns and provide reports to evaluate their effectiveness.

  • Coordinate with internal teams to ensure alignment of marketing efforts, and support cost and budget analysis on collateral.

  • Review the collateral in the brand folder for Real Estate Lending ensuring the content is current.

  • Marketing regarding process improvements, quality service and increased efficiencies within the processing unit.

  • Consistently adheres to VyStar core values and Code of Ethics and acts in accordance with corporate defined values and ethics.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION

  • High School Diploma or GED is required.

  • Bachelor's degree in a business-related field preferred

  • Continuing education via local conferences and workshops is required for updates on federal regulations and secondary market requirements.

EXPERIENCE

  • 5-7 years of residential mortgage lending industry experience.

  • 3+ years of project management experience.

  • 3-5 years of supervisory experience.

  • 3+ years of data analytics experience

  • Development and Training Experience (preferred)

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Direct experience with mortgage processes & products.

  • Very strong analytical, comprehension and problem-solving skills

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Demonstrates an understanding of the mergers and acquisition process.

  • Avid and positive team player who works well across a multi-disciplined organization and possesses strong personal integrity.

  • Ability to work independently and is a self-starter.
