The Role

Position Summary
The Area Vice President – Market Access Strategy and Operations will lead the strategy and measurement of the efforts and tactics for the market access team and help create stand operating procedures to maximize ASP and revenue.   In partnership with the SVP of Market Access and health economics and outcomes research (HEOR) and the pipeline commercial team, the Area Vice President – Market Access Strategy and Operations will set quarterly commission goals for the team that will help achieve corporate targets and improve the development of favorable coverage policies, evidence generation, contracting, coding, and pricing strategies for pipeline products, ensure smooth transition of access strategies to appropriate business unit upon product launch, and partner with market access marketing to develop access tools and resources in support of the market access team.
Job Responsibilities

  • Partner with Market Access Team and billing to achieve ASP and Revenue targets.

  • Create quarterly and annual goals for payer account team that are aligned with Caris’ corporate goals.

  • Operationalize lead and lag measures in salesforce and create a cadence of reporting for executive team.

  • Align market access and billing team to maximize contract revenue.

  • Partner with payer account team to negotiate contracts aligned to Caris’ goals and ASP targets.

  • Lead for sales team dialogue around payer concerns and strategies and bring in payer account owners as needed.

  • Lead strategy to gain KOL support for Caris’ products to bring to Blue Cross Blue Shield plans and regional payer plans.

  • Lead strategy and effort to engage employer groups to create opportunities for contracts.

  • Gather intel that informs payer needs for clinical development and evidence generation and communicate to the organization.

  • Lead strategy to engage PBMs to develop partnerships to improve patient care and create reimbursable access for patients.

  • Lead strategic decisions in collaboration with market access leadership teams regarding trade association sponsorships and access-related meeting attendance in support of improved coverage and contracting for Caris’ products and measure return on investment.

  • Work with marketing team and sales team to continue to refine Financial Assistance Plan and Patient out-of-pocket messaging.

  • Work with sales team on messaging and specific data for coverage in local areas to create confidence in coverage for Cari’s products.

  • Ability to work in a deadline-driven and fast-paced environment, including managing multiple projects on time and budget completion.

  • Ability to effectively collaborate, interface, and influence with all levels of an internal organization.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree.

  • 10+ years diagnostics operations teams and a history of influencing behaviors of account owners to drive outcomes.

  • 10+ years of demonstrated advancement in responsibilities and in direct or in-direct leadership.

  • Strong knowledge and understanding of the healthcare payer environment; including coverage, coding, payment, as well as how to develop, implement, and manage reimbursement programs.

  • Strong knowledge and understanding of healthcare product development and commercialization.

  • Experience in working with PBMs and Employer groups.

  • Experience in working with MolDX.

  • Experience working with Salesforce CRM.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office to include Excel, Word, PowerPoint and business analytics tools (ex: Tableau).

  • Demonstrated ability to perform the Essential Duties of the position with or without accommodation.

  • Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.

  • Conditions of Employment:  Individual must successfully complete pre-employment process, which includes criminal background check, drug screening and reference verification.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree.

  • 10+ years of experience in contracting and reimbursement policy at the national level, payer coverage strategy, and evidence development with large national payers or in biotech, device, or diagnostic laboratory companies.

  • Strong understanding of the molecular diagnostic testing market, including products, companies, and technology.

  • Experience leading sales teams and market access teams.

Physical Demands

  • Ability to lift up to 10 pounds.

  • Ability to work seated for approximately 80% of a typical working day. Ability to work standing for approximately 20% of a typical working day.

  • Ability to work in front of a computer screen and/or perform typing for approximately 80% of a typical working day.

  • Ability to comply with any applicable personal protective equipment requirements.

  • Ability to travel 30% of working time away from work location, may include overnight/weekend travel.

Training

  • All job specific, safety, and compliance training are assigned based on the job functions associated with this employee.

Other

  • This position is field based. 

  • This position requires periodic travel and some evenings, weekends and/or holidays.

  • Ability to travel approximately 60% of working time within region and sometimes outside of region for national or regional meetings.

  • Job may require after-hours response to emergency issues.

Annual Hiring Range

$210,000 - $230,000

Actual compensation offer to candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level. The pay ratio between base pay and target incentive (if applicable) will be finalized at offer.
