Job Description

Purpose of the role

As a Capital and Leverage Management AVP within the Planning & Stress Testing Centre of Excellence you will support the definition, assessment, and governance of capital management actions across the Group.

Management actions are identified in order that the bank has an inventory of actions available in crisis situations to ensure it can remain adequately capitalised. They also form a key component of stress test assessments such as the Internal Stress Test and regulatory stress tests (e.g. ACS). The role will be an integral part of a small team focussed on management actions.

To support (i) the management actions part of the stress testing and recovery planning processes, (ii) innovation and change initiatives pertaining to management actions and (iii) governance requirements related to management actions.

Accountabilities

  • Liaise with business managers, finance business partners and planning and stress testing colleagues to promote the timely submission of management actions for stress testing purposes and resolution of queries.
  • Contribute to regulatory stress test management actions submissions, ensuring accurate and complete data and contribute to follow up queries from the regulators.
  • Responsible for maintaining the desk based management action inventory tool and extracting management action data from Pascal. To include the development of standard reports making use of newly developed Pascal functionality.
  • Support governance requirements, including the management action control and standard.
  • Contribute to Management Actions submissions related to the Internal Capital Adequacy Assessment Process (ICAAP) for Group and significant legal entities.
  • Support innovation and change initiatives pertaining to management actions, with an initial focus on the calculation of the capital impacts of recovery options.

  • Identify ways to mitigate risk and developing new policies/procedures in support of the control and governance agenda.
  • Take ownership for managing risk and strengthening controls in relation to the work done.
  • Perform work that is closely related to that of other areas, which requires understanding of how areas coordinate and contribute to the achievement of the objectives of the organisation sub-function.
  • Collaborate with other areas of work, for business aligned support areas to keep up to speed with business activity and the business strategy.
  • Engage in complex analysis of data from multiple sources of information, internal and external sources such as procedures and practises (in other areas, teams, companies, etc).to solve problems creatively and effectively.
  • Communicate complex information. 'Complex' information could include sensitive information or information that is difficult to communicate because of its content or its audience.
  • Influence or convince stakeholders to achieve outcomes.

To be successful as a AVP CALM Management Actions, you should have below skillsets:

Basic/ Essential Qualifications:

  • Affinity to work with numbers and strong Excel and PowerPoint skills
  • Finance related University Degree or equivalent qualification (e.g. ACA, CIMA)
  • Some experience working in a top-tier financial institution
  • Strong communication skills

Desirable skillsets/ good to have:

  • Capital Management experience including understanding of key capital ratios, RWA and leverage exposure measures, and the adjustments from shareholder equity to arrive at capital measures.
  • Knowledge of banking product base
  • Good presentation skills both written and verbal
  • Experience in financial analysis and decision support for senior management

This role will be based out of Chennai.
