General Summary:We are looking for an exceptional product leader to identify, build, and scale the next generation of Agentic and Generative AI products across the enterprise.
This is not an entry point into Agentic AI. We are looking for someone who proven experience developing, shipping, and scaling agentic AI products in production across a large organization or business unit and understands what it takes to move from compelling prototypes to trusted products used in real business workflows.
At the heart of the role is a simple mandate: find important problems worth solving, prove the value quickly, and turn what works into trusted, repeatable agentic products that scale.
As a leader in advanced analytics within Unum, you will play a critical role in transforming Unum from a traditional insurance player to a leading AI-first digital insurance company.
1. Own and drive strategic AI-based products/solutions, with a particular focus on Agentic and Generative AI
2. Influence senior executives around strategies and investments related to AI
3. Lead a world-class team of Product Managers, Product Owners, Business Analysts and other AI-focused professionals with cross-discipline partnerships with other functional areas across Finance, Marketing and Operations
4. Support efforts to evangelize and democratize AI across the enterprise
5. Identify high-value business problems where Agentic and Generative AI can create meaningful impact and lead products from discovery and MVP through production and enterprise scale

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

• Provide inputs and support execution on the advanced analytics roadmap.
• Lead efforts to generate, conceptualize and build AI-first digital products/solutions/capabilities, including Agentic and Generative AI products.
• Support establishing an AI platform with standard tools, processes and ways of working.
• Partner with business leaders and technical teams to identify and prioritize high-value AI use cases and integrate and operationalize AI into business processes and other digital assets to deliver measurable business value.
• Apply Design Thinking, Lean Startup, experimentation and MVP principles to quickly test opportunities, validate value and determine which solutions should move forward to scale.
• Influence senior executives and business leaders around strategies and investments related to AI.
• Partner with Data Science, AI Engineering, Software Engineering and Architecture professionals across a wide range of environments, supporting the analysis, development, design, creation, modification and testing of Unum Agentic AI, Generative AI, data analytics and machine learning products and related applications.
• Bring firsthand understanding of moving AI products from prototype to MVP to production and enterprise scale, including considerations around evaluation, reliability, observability, human oversight, governance, security, cost and operational support.
• Develop, coach and engage people to higher levels of performance.
• Lead cross-functional, cross-disciplinary teams to drive AI-centric programs.
• Identify repeatable AI product patterns and reusable capabilities that can be leveraged and scaled across the enterprise.
• Understands and is an advocate of following architecture standards, practices and processes.
• Define product success through measurable business outcomes, customer experience, adoption, reliability, trust and economics.

Job Specifications

• Background in Product Management,  CS-Math, Data Science, Operational Research or related disciplines.

• 10+ years of product management experience, with significant experience building and scaling technology products within technology companies or sophisticated digital organizations.

• Demonstrated experience personally leading Agentic AI products from development through successful production deployment at organizational or business-unit scale.
• Proven ability to move Agentic AI solutions beyond prototypes or pilots into production environments with meaningful user adoption and measurable business outcomes.
• Excellent knowledge of AI technologies and strong technical fluency, with the ability to work effectively with Data Scientists, AI/ML Engineers, Software Engineers and Architects.
• Practical understanding of operating Agentic AI products at scale, including evaluation, observability, reliability, guardrails, human oversight, orchestration, security, cost and ongoing product operations.
• Experience with modern AI/ML and Generative AI technologies and platforms.
• Strategic innovator with demonstrated experience of pushing the boundaries and reimagining the art of possible.
• Think strategic, act tactical. Execution experience taking ideas to scale, with strong judgment around when Agentic AI is, and is not, the appropriate solution.
• Experience bridging the divide between the theoretical and applied. Proven expertise in communicating that vision and experience to non-technical stakeholders.
• Exhibits courage by taking smart risks and encourages others to do so; empowers innovative approaches by motivating others to be proactive and resourceful.
• Demonstrated depth of IT knowledge with diversity in technical experience. Is seen as a credible technology partner.
• Experience leading and developing Product Managers, Product Owners, Business Analysts or similar product-focused teams.
• Exceptional communication and relationship-building skills with the ability to influence senior business leaders, customers, technical teams and governance partners.

The base salary range for applicants for this position is listed below. Unless actual salary is indicated above in the job description, actual pay will be based on skill, geographical location and experience.

$133,500.00-$274,100.00

Additionally, Unum offers a portfolio of benefits and rewards that are competitive and comprehensive including healthcare benefits (health, vision, dental), insurance benefits (short & long-term disability), performance-based incentive plans, paid time off, and a 401(k) retirement plan with an employer match up to 5% and an additional 4.5% contribution whether you contribute to the plan or not.  All benefits are subject to the terms and conditions of individual Plans.
