Summary Generated by Built In

Kodiak was founded in April 2018 to develop autonomous technology that carries freight forward—so people, partners, and the planet thrive. Navigating highway environments presents vastly different challenges than urban streets. Kodiak’s experienced team has developed the industry’s most advanced technology stack purpose-built specifically for long-haul trucks. From our sensor fusion system that maximizes the value of every sensing modality, to our unique lightweight mapping solution that allows our trucks to navigate ever-changing highway construction zones, our world-class team of industry pioneers is bringing the benefits of autonomy to the $800B a year trucking industry quickly, safely, and efficiently.

We are looking for a Technician to join us in building and maintaining our experimental and operations vehicles.

In this role, you will:

  • Be responsible for modifications and maintenance to autonomous vehicle platforms.
  • Inspect and certify operational state of vehicles.
  • Work closely with design and validation engineers to aid in the development of hardware systems.
  • Executing scheduled work according to scheduled uptime expectations
  • Create and maintain vehicle maintenance documentation to shape fleet growth to scale.
  • Completing assigned tasks while maintaining work quality and standards
  • Help evaluate and maintain work instruction accuracy.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, work environment

What you'll bring:

  • Solid hands-on background. The ability to rely on previous experience or training to inspect and identify defects and failures within the fleet is required. These range from visual to operational in nature.
  • Reliability and consistency. You have a track record of meticulous work. You are comfortable developing and practicing methodical service through the use of checklists, protocols, and work documentation.
  • The ability to be self motivated and driven. The learning of process and maintaining a level of integrity with it is vital.
  • Experience and competency using electrical tools such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, specialized wire crimpers, and diag based software for truck electronics.
  • Clear communication. You are comfortable providing feedback to engineers, and sharing insights with the team at large to improve products and processes. You know how to collaborate, and when to get secondary inspection and review for safety-critical decisions.
  • Innovative mindset. You like to find ways to improve the system you are working on. You can solve problems and complete tasks even when the path to the solution is not clear at the outset.
  • Flexibility for additional days of work outside of the Tuesday through Saturday scheduled days, and potential for periodic travel to remote locations for short term onsite based support

Who should apply:

  • Car Enthusiasts with a Passion for Technology: If you’ve always been fascinated by the way vehicles and technology intertwine and have a knack for IT systems, this role is for you.
  • Robot Geeks with Hands-On Experience on Trucks: Candidates who enjoy tinkering with robotics or automation systems and have worked on trucks or other vehicles will thrive in this position.
  • Computer-Savvy Mechanics: If you’ve been working on vehicles and are ready to expand your expertise into IT and system integration, we’d love to hear from you.
  • Gearheads Looking for a Challenge: Individuals who are eager to solve complex problems and push the boundaries of automotive technology will excel in this role.

What we offer:

  • Work with an experienced and agile team to revolutionize transportation.
  • Competitive salary, equity and benefits, including medical, dental & vision.
