We are looking for a Software Development Engineer R&D in Test Automation (f/m/x) who will work on our SLIMS platform with the team in our office in Gent (BEL).
The SLIMS team is international, located in different countries and the working language is English. Good proficiency in English is therefore required.
SLIMS is a software platform that allows tracking all stages a sample follows to the final result. SLIMS captures information about the sample, requests for measurements, and follows its entire workflow through the lab, tracking manual operating procedures, automated instrument steps, and calculations until the final report.
Your Responsibilities
Your main responsibilities are related to the SLIMS Automation project. Namely:
- Lead the Automation team; support and develop the new Automation structure.
- Design and develop Automation scripts for testing and maintain the traceability.
- Testing and debugging to ensure that automated processes run smoothly.
- Configure the test software/environment in which the test will be performed.
- Validate the test results and document and report the current result to management.
- Responsible for the CI/CD process, like monitoring Jenkins, ensuring the pipelines are up to date.
- Work closely with the R&D team and Test Engineers to analyze, debug and resolve any issues.
- Co-ordinate and build a good relationship across SLIMS teams.
- You may also be involved in other SLIMS R&D processes.
Qualifications
We are looking for a self-motivated professional who demonstrates the ability to quickly grasp new technologies, products, and use cases. A bright and intellectually curious Software Development Engineer R&D who is capable, adaptable and agile.
SLIMS is a web-based platform that was hitherto entirely developed in Java, SpringBoot and SmartGWT. Given a recent evolution to Angular-based front ends, we are looking to reinforce the team with individuals with the appropriate competences.
The ideal candidate will have experience in Test Automation Development and an excellent handle of Java, Angular would be a plus. Experience with testing tools in Java and object-oriented development as well as Project Lifecycle Management tools such as Jira and X-Ray is required.
Desired candidate background:
- Relevant experience in automation testing or development.
- Relevant automation tool expertise required: Selenium and Page Pattern; REST; Cucumber and BDD testing.
- Hands on with IntelliJ IDE and CI/CD Tools: Jenkins.
- Experience of using Git and working knowledge of SQL.
- Experience with SpringBoot, SmartGWT, Hibernate, CSS, IntelliJ, Jira and Git are considered important plusses.
- Familiarity with software development life cycles and agile programming methodologies.
- BS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or similar technical degree; advanced degree a plus.
- Excellent problem solving, analytical skills and technical troubleshooting skills.
- Clarity and precision in verbal and written communication in English. Proficiency in Dutch would be a plus.

This job has a full time weekly schedule.
