As a member of a cross functional team, you lead R&D activities required to complete process design and process deployment for innovation, growth and cost optimization projects across multiple geographies with an emphasis on delivering the desired consumer experience.
How you will contribute
Working independently, you will lead technical work across multiple projects aligned with R&D, marketing and manufacturing requirements, effectively communicating status and risks. You will also lead activities designed to generate appropriate process information using modelling and simulation, and pilot plant scale up and factory trials in accordance with good manufacturing practice and HACCP requirements. You will be involved with/lead process design and specifications, process scale-up and commissioning and will ensure the effective use of resources, including the use of external agencies. This position requires you to manage stakeholders and to influence decisions based on data analysis and interpretation of results; create and maintain accurate consumer centric process specifications; leverage connections to internal and external technical communities, and; create intellectual property that gives Mondelēz International a competitive advantage.

What you need to know about this position:
We are looking for an experienced and motivated Automation Senior Project Engineer I to join our team and play a key role in ensuring the smooth operation of our automated systems. This includes leading capital projects, driving continuous improvement initiatives, and troubleshooting automation issues.

- Strong understanding of PLC programming, control systems, and industrial automation principles.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a focus on knowledge transfer.
- Ability to learn and apply continuous improvement tools (TPM, Lean, Six Sigma, 5S, etc.).
- Passion for continuous learning and improvement.
Responsibilities:
- Lead Capital Projects managing installation and automation of new equipment.
- Ensuring adherence to IIM processes and compliance with Acquisition Request and Disposal Request policies.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance automation processes, and instrumentation systems.
- Diagnose and resolve issues with control systems to minimize downtime.
- Execute preventive maintenance programs and ensure compliance with HSE and Quality guidelines.
- Lead implementation of network integration of equipment to the Historian PLC network.
- Work with PLC systems, HMIs, and industrial automation devices with automation 3rd party support.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, generate equipment performance reports, and provide insights for improvement.
Education / Certifications:
Bachelor's degree in engineering, or a related field
Job specific requirements:
- 5+ years of manufacturing experience in an Automation and Controls role.
- Experience using software like SAP and/or Catalyst.
- Proven experience leading capital projects using project management methodologies.
- Knowledge or experience in CMMS system for preventive maintenance programs.
- Experience managing and maintaining Historian PLC networks.
- Familiarity with work orders, and asset creation/management.
- Experience with production equipment in food processing, chemical, or pharmaceutical industries.
- Familiarity with Allen Bradley PLC Controls, and AutoCAD.
- Strong knowledge of industrial automation systems (HMIs, VFDs, motor control systems).
- Understanding of basic electronics and electrical theory.
- Proficiency in reading electrical and instrumentation schematics, diagrams, and technical manuals.

This is a full-time onsite role based in Whippany, NJ.
Salary and Benefits:
The base salary range for this position is $83,800 to $115,225; the exact salary depends on several factors such as experience, skills, education, and budget. In addition to base salary, this position is eligible for participation in a highly competitive bonus program with possibility for overachievement based on performance and company results.
