Your role and responsibilities

For the ABB European Operations Center, with branches in Plzeň, Ostrava, and Brno, we are looking for candidates for the position of “PLC Programmer.”

In this role, you will work on industrial automation projects in areas such as:

  • Energy, including green energy
  • Marine transport
  • Mining and mineral processing
  • Pharmaceuticals and chemicals

Examples of real projects we have worked on:

  • Jansz-Io project – natural gas extraction – a unique subsea power technology enabling a lower carbon footprint
  • Northvolt project – battery production with 80% lower carbon footprint compared to fossil-fuel-based production
  • Wonder of the Seas project – delivering complete automation for the world’s largest ship

Our customers build new technologies or upgrade and expand existing ones worldwide. This involves business travel ranging from a few weeks per year to several months. We will aim to find a project that fits your availability.

This position is suitable for both experienced candidates and graduates who want to gain experience in an international environment (international projects).

The work model for the role is: hybrid
This role is contributing to the Pilsen Automation Team
You will be mainly accountable for:

  • Programming control applications based on functional specifications
  • Testing functionality internally and with the customer
  • Commissioning systems at customer sites
  • Documenting project progress and creating technical documentation

Qualifications for the role

  • Minimum secondary education in electrical engineering
  • Experience in automation and PLC programming (graduates will be trained)
  • Communicative level of English (working with international customers and teams)
  • Willingness to travel
  • Independence and motivation to work in an international team
