Title: Automation Project Engineer
Reports to: Engineering Leader
Location: DMG MORI Systems, Davis, CA / Hoffman Estates, IL
Hours: Monday through Friday, 8:30AM to 5:30PM
Classification: Exempt
Travel: 30%

Essential Job Functions:

- Work with automation sales manager to prepare automation cell proposals and quotations for customer.
- Perform automation concept/layout design, robot reachability study, cell simulation and cycle time studies.
- Manage project execution and overall schedule by closely working with customers, DMG MORI Technical centers (TC) and various automation suppliers.
- Prepare requirements/design specifications and manage suppliers to build automation components.
- Coordinate with automation commissioning team to conduct cell production, integration, FAT/SAT signoff.
- Provide operation training to customers if necessary.
- Create and organize design documents, drawings and user manuals for each delivery.
- Other duties as assigned per project execution need.
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor‘s Degree in Engineering.
- Strong ability in mechanical design.
- Proficient in 3D modeling software.
- Strong system design, hands-on and prototyping capabilities.
- Strong communication skills including ability to read and write technical documents.
- Strong project management skills to work on multiple projects simultaneously
- Experience in automation project with CNC machine tools is a plus.
- Knowledge of CNC machine tool, robot, vision, and motion control is a plus.
- Mechanical assembly capability
Work Environment:
Exposure to manufacturing/machining environments which may present possible hazards such as noise, electricity, chemicals, heavy equipment, and other automated and manual machinery. General office environment experienced at DMG MORI office.
Physical Demands:
Frequent: walking, bending, and stooping.
Periodic: sitting at desk, utilizing computers and phones.
Occasional: travel, lifting or moving up to 50lbs, operating power equipment.
Skills Required
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering
