Overview
The Automation/Manual Tester will support testing activities for the Department of Veteran Affairs (VA) Loan Guaranty Service (LGY). This role will support both manual and automated testing efforts across ongoing sustainment, defects, and incremental enhancements, working closely with developers, analysts, and stakeholders to ensure system quality, reliability, and compliance in a federal environment
Key Functions
- Execute manual test cases to validate functional, regression, and integration requirements.
- Design, develop, and maintain automated test scripts using VA-supported automation tools.
- Participate in test planning, test case development, and test execution for new features and releases.
- Validate data accuracy, business rules, and system behavior across integrated systems.
- Identify, document, and track defects using standard defect management tools.
- Collaborate with developers and business stakeholders to clarify requirements and resolve issues.
- Support system, integration, and user acceptance testing activities.
- Maintain test documentation, test evidence, and execution results in accordance with federal audit and compliance standards.
- Support troubleshooting and validation of production issues as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
Education & Experience (must meet one of the following):
- Bachelor’s degree + 3 years of software testing or quality assurance experience, OR
- Associate’s degree + 5 years of software testing or quality assurance experience, OR
- High School Diploma/GED + 7 years of software testing or quality assurance experience.
- Ability to obtain VA Public Trust Clearance.
Testing Tools & Technologies
- Experience with one or more of the following automation tools:
- Ruby
- Cucumber
- Java
- Selenium
- Experience with one or more of the following manual testing tools:
- JIRA
- Postman
- ServiceNow Workflows (SWL) or similar tools
Preferred Qualifications or Skills
- Current VA Public Trust Clearance.
- Experience with both manual and automated testing in enterprise applications.
- Experience with API testing and validation.
- Experience supporting Salesforce and/or AWS–based systems.
- Experience supporting federal government systems or compliance-driven environments.
- Familiarity with Agile or iterative development methodologies.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to clearly document defects and test results.
- Ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.
- Proactive mindset – jumps in and connects the dots, fills gaps, and identifies and tackles work without being asked.
Position Details
- Employment type: Full-Time, W2
- Location: 100% Remote (US-based)
- Hours: 40 hours/week with availability during core business hours of 8am-5pm ET
- Start date: ASAP
- Eligibility: Must be eligible to obtain a Public Trust clearance
