The Automation Engineer is responsible for handle the electrical and automation areas of the production equipment for the manufacturing site in Songdo.

This position reports to the Lead Project Engineer and is part of the Engineering Team located in Songdo and will be an on-site role.

What you will do:

Own individual projects within the team and achieve agreed goals in the Manufacturing Area

  • In the beginning, you will work as a Technical Transfer Engineer (Automation & Electrical) at the new manufacturing site under construction, mainly handling electrical and automation tasks. Later, when the manufacturing site starts operating under production conditions, you will be assigned engineering projects (Automation & Electrical) to ensure smooth operations and carry them out.

Daily engineering activities and support for each project goal

  • Using the DBS (Danaher Business System), engineering tasks are monitored and recorded on a daily, monthly, and yearly basis. These tasks may include productivity improvement, automation, equipment failure tracking, and efficient spare parts management. You will take part in many daily activities connected to DBS and demonstrate your skills.

Being responsible for automation and electrical areas for process equipment

  • You will be responsible for solving automation and electrical issues related to the line (process) machines installed in the new manufacturing site.
  • You will work together with different teams, such as the Production Operations team and the QC team, to solve and further improve issues in automation and electrical areas.
  • We mainly use Allen-Bradley. You will manage licenses for Rockwell software and take responsibility for the related software.

Being responsible for data transfer development to improve production OEE

  • You will manage electrical drawings and the IO list. You will also be responsible for ensuring smooth data communication between the SQL database in the OT network and the PLCs installed in the machines.
  • You will work on connecting machine tags with software such as Historian and Canary, and continue to improve these activities.
  • You will help with the efficient management of spare parts for electrical and automation areas.
  • You will use Power BI and/or other tools to visualize production data.

Who you are:

• Bachelor’s degree in manufacturing engineering, project engineering, electrical engineering, or a similar engineering field, and at least 3 years of experience in a similar role

• Hands-on experience (maintenance/troubleshooting) in automation and electrical areas in a manufacturing environment

• Understanding and practical experience with SCADA, PLC, data transfer, project tools, Power BI, and statistical tools (Minitab or other tools)

• Good knowledge of development, project management, automation validation of new equipment, and the layout of new production cells

• It would be even better if you are interested in using your automation and electrical skills to help improve productivity at the manufacturing site.

Travel, Motor Vehicle Record & Physical/Environment Requirements:

• Fluent level of English and Korean in written and verbal communication

• Ability to travel abroad based on business needs

• If a foreign national, a legal work permit is required to pursue an employment contract under Korean immigration law

• Ability and resilience to manage required chemical materials in a healthy and safe condition

• Ability to lift, move, or carry equipment up to 10 kg, and meet any other physical requirements

It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:

• Experience across various fields such as automation, electrical engineering, and mechanical engineering (especially Allen-Bradley PLC)

• Actual experience in continuous improvement to enhance OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness) of production facilities

• Experience with manufacturing site data such as MES and SCADA
