To support our extraordinary teams who build great products and contribute to our growth, we’re looking to add a Automation Engineer located in Austin, TX.
Reporting to the Director, Operations Engineering the Automation Engineer is responsible for specifying, designing and maintaining automation equipment, tooling and applications as required to meet specifications.
Swing Shift - M-F from 4pm to midnight
What a typical day looks like:
- May be involved in development and update of PFMEA for new procedures/machines
- Generate Work Instructions for using automated equipment
- Work with equipment and IT validation teams to ensure successful validation (IQ/OQ/PQ).
- Design, engineer, and modify existing and new moderately complex automation equipment, tooling and applications to automate manufacturing processes.
- Establish technical manuals, drawings, models, training documentation, preventative maintenance plans and troubleshooting guides for automated equipment and automated processes.
- Understand the machine operating principle, Consequence of wear and tear parts and product Defects
- Ensure the uptime of machines through regular preventive maintenance and breakdown maintenance
- Should be willing to learn & enhance the skill in all type of Automation equipment.
- Should use structured problem solving techniques to analyze & drive for permanent corrective actions.
- Should be able to give feedback to improve the design of process and equipment.
- Should provide input to maximize equipment utilization and support production needs
- Coordinates maintenance activities with other functional groups such as engineering and operations to ensure the efficient operation of the departmental function.
- Collaborates and offers input to planning, building, and maintaining the Automation framework and associated processes for new products.
- Identifies and drives change to ensure automation effectiveness of existing processes.
- Demonstrates a thorough understanding of customer requirements, offer suggestions and ideas on how best to deliver automation solutions.
The experience we’re looking to add to our team:
- Typically requires a Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent experience and training.
- Requires 3+ years of experience in mechatronics engineering in the high volume manufacturing of electronics, medical devices, or a related field
- Experience with CAD, Robot and PLC programming a plus
- Experience with MES is highly preferred
- Comfortable with customer facing environment
- Excellent verbal and written communication
