The role
The role will report to Head of Automation
Location for this position is Stockholm (Sickla)
Hybrid work. We see that hybrid work, where we as employees can work either from home or from the office, creates opportunities to perform and work effectively in virtual and real environments.
Purpose of role
As an Automation Engineer – Intelligent & Agentic Automation, you will design, build, and evolve next-generation automation solutions that go far beyond traditional RPA.
You will work at the intersection of:
- Process automation
- AI & decision intelligence
- Event-driven and agent-based architectures
Initially, you will help modernise and extend our existing automation landscape. Over time, you will play a key role in enabling Agentic AI—automation systems that can reason, decide, and act across complex, open-ended processes.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys both hands-on engineering and exploring new automation paradigms.
Responsibilities of role
Modern Automation Engineering
- Design and build intelligent automation solutions combining workflows, APIs, events, and AI services.
- Develop automations that interact with multiple systems, data products, and decision services.
- Move automations upstream—from task execution to decision-aware and context-driven flows.
- Gradually reduce dependency on UI-based RPA by shifting toward API-first and event-driven automation.
AI-Enabled & Cognitive Automation
- Integrate AI capabilities into automations:
- Classification, extraction, prediction
- LLM-based reasoning and text handling
- Confidence scoring and human-in-the-loop patterns
- Collaborate closely with Data & AI engineers to consume ML models, feature stores, and GenAI services.
- Implement guardrails for accuracy, explainability, cost control, and compliance.
Agentic Automation (Evolving Scope)
- Contribute to building foundations for Agentic AI, such as:
- Orchestrating multi-step autonomous workflows
- Tool/function calling and decision loops
- State, memory, and context handling
- Event-driven triggers and asynchronous execution
- Experiment responsibly with agent frameworks and orchestration patterns, moving from PoC to production when value is proven.
Engineering Excellence
- Apply software engineering best practices (version control, testing, CI/CD).
- Build reusable automation components and templates.
- Document solutions and support self-service adoption across the organisation.
- Actively use AI-assisted development tools to improve speed and quality.
Technologies & Tooling (current and evolving)
You will work with a modern and evolving automation stack, including combinations of:
- Workflow orchestration & automation platforms
(e.g. Power Automate, RPA tools, low-code platforms) - API & integration technologies
- Event-driven architectures
- AI services and ML model integrations
- GenAI tooling (prompt pipelines, LLM APIs, embeddings)
- Scripting & configuration (e.g. Python, JSON, YAML)
Experience with agent frameworks, AI orchestration, or decision engines is a plus—but curiosity and learning ability matter more than ticking every box.
Your Background
We believe you have:
- 3–7+ years of experience in automation, software engineering, or intelligent process automation.
- Hands-on experience building automation solutions beyond simple task automation.
- Solid understanding of:
- System integration and APIs
- Workflow orchestration
- Exception handling and human-in-the-loop design
- Interest or experience in:
- AI-driven automation
- ML or GenAI integration
- Event-based or agent-based systems
- Experience from regulated environments (e.g. financial services) is a plus.
- Comfortable working in agile / SAFe-inspired delivery models.
