The Senior Engineer – DevOps Automation is a highly experienced professional responsible for optimizing and automating the engineering environment within a medium to large-scale technical setup. The role focuses on identifying technical shortcomings, implementing automation solutions, and managing complex projects with a significant impact on the business. This individual is expected to be a key technical expert who mentors junior engineers, leads critical troubleshooting efforts, and drives improvements in system observability and monitoring.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and Implement Automation Scripts: Utilize scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell to automate repetitive tasks, reducing manual intervention and increasing efficiency.
- Design and Maintain CI/CD Pipelines: Architect and sustain Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines to automate software build, test, and deployment processes, ensuring rapid and reliable releases.
- Manage Containerization and Orchestration: Deploy and manage containerized applications using Docker and orchestrate with Kubernetes to improve application scalability and portability.
- Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Write and manage infrastructure code using Terraform or CloudFormation for consistent, scalable, and efficient infrastructure provisioning.
- Monitor and Troubleshoot Systems: Implement effective monitoring solutions and log management tools for proactive issue detection. Troubleshoot and resolve issues promptly to maintain system performance and reliability.
- Ensure Security Best Practices: Apply security best practices throughout the DevOps process, including code scanning, vulnerability assessments, and access controls, to protect software and systems.
Technical Skills:
- Proficient in scripting languages such as PowerShell, Python, Bash for automation and task repetition reduction. Familiar with configuration management tools like Ansible, Puppet, Chef.
- Expert in designing and implementing Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines using tools like Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Ansible-Tower, CI/CD, ADO.
- Hands-on experience with containerization platforms like Docker and orchestration tools such as Kubernetes, Docker Swarm for efficient application management.
- Skilled in writing Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools like Terraform or CloudFormation for efficient infrastructure management and provisioning.
- Strong understanding of version control systems like Git, with best practices for branching, merging, and collaboration.
- Aware of security best practices in DevOps, including code scanning, vulnerability assessments, and access controls.
- Experienced with public cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, Google Cloud and leveraging their services for scalable and resilient solutions.

- Implemented and maintained Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines to automate software build, test, and deployment processes.
- Collaborated with development teams to integrate DevOps practices into the software development lifecycle, enhancing efficiency and productivity.
- Designed and managed infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles, ensuring scalability, reliability, and consistency across environments.
- Deployed and orchestrated containerized applications using Docker and Kubernetes, improving scalability and portability of applications.
- Automated routine tasks, deployments, and system configurations using scripting languages, reducing manual intervention and minimizing errors.

Job Requirements and Qualifications
- Minimum Education: University Degree in Computer Science or related field.
- Preferred Education: BE/BTech/MCA Degree.
- Minimum Experience:
- 7 to 12 years in architecture, programming, or systems engineering.
- Experience with DevOps platform management.
- Proven experience in managing technical teams with a history of handling change responsibilities.
- Preferred Experience:
- Functional and technical expertise relevant to Haleon's scale.
- Demonstrable leadership in engineering management.
- Required Certifications: Relevant technical certifications as needed.
