Job Description:

Are you curious about automation and excited by the opportunity to work with new technologies, machinery, and industrial solutions? Join Sibelco as an Automation Engineer and help shape the future of our operations.

We are looking for a motivated and proactive Automation Engineer to join our team in Arcos, working in one of the most advanced plants within the cluster. In this role, you will support the optimization, maintenance, and development of automation systems and instrumentation, while contributing to new solutions across automation, digitalization, robotics, and Industry 4.0.

This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career professional who is eager to learn, explore new technologies, and turn ideas into practical improvements. You will work closely with maintenance, OPEX, engineering teams, and other factories across the cluster, with the opportunity to progressively develop your technical expertise and contribute to innovative projects.

In the role, your responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Maintaining, troubleshooting, and optimizing automation systems, PLCs, instrumentation, and control interfaces to ensure reliable plant operation.

  • Supporting the design, testing, and implementation of new automation solutions and improvements to machinery and production processes.

  • Participating in problem-solving and Root Cause Analysis initiatives, identifying opportunities to improve efficiency, reliability, and machine availability.

  • Coordinating with internal teams and third-party providers on automation maintenance, technical services, spare parts, and improvement activities.

  • Contributing to automation, digitalization, robotics, and Industry 4.0 projects, sharing ideas and supporting the development of new solutions across the cluster.

To be successful in this role, you have:

  • A technical qualification in Automation, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Electronics, Mechatronics, or a related field; University Degree or (FP2) qualification.

  • 1–2 years of experience in automation design or a similar industrial environment; additional experience is welcome but this is not a senior position.

  • A curious, proactive, and open-minded mindset, with a genuine interest in learning about new technologies, machinery, and industrial applications.

  • Knowledge of PLC and SCADA systems is an advantage, together with good analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Good communication skills, the ability to work independently and as part of a team, and technical English; willingness to travel to other sites within the cluster when required.
