Job Summary

Cubic Digital Intelligence is seeking a Software Engineer II to join the Unified Video engineering organization with a focus on engineering automation, developer productivity, and AI-assisted software development. This role will design and implement automation solutions that streamline software development, testing, deployment, release management, and operational workflows across multiple engineering teams. The engineer will leverage modern AI technologies, scripting, infrastructure automation, and software development practices to eliminate repetitive tasks, improve engineering efficiency, and enable teams to deliver higher quality software faster. This is a full-time hybrid position located in Ashburn, VA with limited travel as required.

Essential Functions
  • Design, develop, and maintain automation solutions supporting software development, testing, deployment, and operational workflows.
  • Build AI-assisted engineering tools that improve developer productivity and reduce manual effort across engineering teams.
  • Develop automation using Python, Node.js, PowerShell, Bash, or similar scripting languages.
  • Create and maintain GitLab CI/CD pipelines and workflow automation supporting software delivery.
  • Integrate AI services and large language models (LLMs) into engineering workflows where appropriate.
  • Automate infrastructure provisioning, configuration management, and deployment activities using tools such as Ansible and container technologies.
  • Develop internal tooling, dashboards, and utilities to improve engineering efficiency and visibility.
  • Collaborate with software engineers, DevSecOps, QA, and Product teams to identify automation opportunities and implement scalable solutions.
  • Evaluate emerging AI technologies and recommend practical applications that improve engineering processes.
  • Produce technical documentation, standards, and best practices for automation across the organization.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field (or equivalent experience).
  • Minimum of 2 years of professional software development or automation engineering experience.
  • Experience developing software or automation using Python, JavaScript/Node.js, PowerShell, Bash, or similar programming languages.
  • Experience with Git, source control workflows, and CI/CD concepts.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Secret Security Clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience developing AI-assisted automation using large language models (OpenAI, Anthropic Claude, Gemini, or similar platforms).
  • Experience integrating AI APIs into software applications or engineering workflows.
  • Experience with GitLab CI/CD, Docker, Kubernetes, Ansible, or Infrastructure as Code.
  • Experience developing internal engineering tools, automation frameworks, or developer productivity solutions.
  • Familiarity with PostgreSQL, REST APIs, Linux administration, and cloud-native technologies.
  • Experience with automated testing frameworks such as Playwright or API testing tools.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills with a passion for continuous improvement and process optimization.

Cubic Pay Range:

$85,000.00 - $108,000.00 + benefits.

Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
