The Role:

The successful candidate will act as the technical automation lead, working closely with an established Project Manager, system integrators and multidisciplinary stakeholders across Validation, Quality and Operations.

Candidates should have a strong background delivering automation projects within industrial manufacturing environments, with experience defining technical scope, managing system design activities and supporting regulated project delivery. Experience with AVEVA Wonderware technologies would be highly advantageous, although strong automation engineers from other platforms will also be considered

Responsibilities:

  • Act as the lead Automation Engineer for a pharmaceutical CapEx project focused on replacing obsolete automation systems.

  • Define project scope and develop technical solutions aligned with site automation standards.

  • Support technology selection and engineering decision making throughout the project lifecycle.

  • Develop detailed automation system designs in collaboration with external system integrators.

  • Manage automation activities through FAT, SAT, commissioning, qualification and final handover

  • Assess and manage interfaces between AVEVA systems, Siemens PLCs, SAP MES and legacy applications.

  • Identify opportunities to remove obsolete technologies and simplify system architecture.

  • Collaborate closely with Validation, QA, Operations and Project Management teams.

  • Provide ongoing technical support following project completion.

  • Generate and maintain project documentation in line with GMP and validation requirements.

Requirements:

  • Significant automation engineering experience delivering projects from concept through implementation and operational support.

  • Experience with AVEVA Wonderware technologies including InTouch, AVEVA Batch and System Platform.

  • Experience defining technical scope and leading automation design activities.

  • Strong understanding of PLC and SCADA-based automation systems.

  • Experience working with external system integrators.

  • Excellent documentation, testing and validation practices.

  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.

  • Ability to work independently while collaborating within a multidisciplinary project team.
