To support our extraordinary teams who build great products and contribute to our growth, we’re looking to add a AI/ML Automation engineer located in Austin, TX.
Reporting to the Sr Director, Operations Engineering the AI/ML Automation engineer is responsible for specifying, designing and maintaining automation equipment, tooling and applications as required to meet specifications.
What a typical day looks like:
- Define and drive the CEC‑level AI/ML and automation strategy and roadmap, aligned with business goals, data strategy, and site needs
- Develop and maintain a best‑practice automation catalog covering architectures, equipment standards, controls, AI/ML integration patterns, and deployment guidelines across CEC sites
- Design and implement scalable AI/ML‑enabled automation solutions, including data pipelines, model integration, edge/cloud architectures, and MLOps patterns
- Establish and lead a cross‑site automation and AI/ML forum to enable knowledge sharing, lessons learned, and reuse of proven solutions
- Drive technical alignment and standardization of automation, controls, and AI/ML platforms across all CEC sites
- Support sites in identifying, prioritizing, and scaling automation and AI use cases, including productivity, quality, and operational efficiency improvements
- Provide hands‑on, end‑to‑end automation engineering support, from SOW definition through design, build, deployment, and ramp
- Deliver AI/ML and automation solutions for new customer engagements, including concept development, technical proposals, and fully costed business cases
- Improve and modernize existing factory automation processes by introducing AI/ML, advanced analytics, and data‑driven decisioning
The experience we’re looking to add to our team:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related discipline.
- 5+ years delivering industrial or manufacturing automation solutions.
- Experience developing capex-backed automation solutions with ROI justification.
- Strong understanding of automation architectures and system integration.
- Multi-site or global manufacturing experience.
- New business capture or proposal engineering experience.
- Familiarity with automation maturity metrics and scorecards.
