In Liberia, Costa Rica, we have our newest and most advanced manufacturing plant in the world, leading the way to Industry 4.0. This plant uses state-of-the-art manufacturing technology to improve how our employees work and how we manufacture our products.
We are currently looking for an Automation & Digitization Architect that will be responsible for the detailed design, development, and implementation of IT and automation use cases aimed at increasing productivity and improving efficiency in CPS plant by leveraging advances in both IT and Automation technologies. Key responsibilities include determining the factory software architecture and automation technology platforms essential for delivering the CPS Digital Transformation, leading the technical implementation of a diverse range of technologies, including developing bespoke and/or heavily customized applications, and introducing off-the-shelf IT/Controls applications to enable digitization of the factory floor. Furthermore, the role entails the implementation of advanced, highly automated manufacturing improvements (use cases) and interfacing with senior management. This role demands a combination of technical skills, project management expertise, and in-depth knowledge of both factory floor and supply chain operations.
What you’ll do for us:
- Lead the design, development, and implementation of IT and automation use cases aimed at increasing productivity and improving efficiency within the CPS plant.
- Determine the necessary factory software architecture and automation technology platforms to achieve the CPS Digital Transformation.
- Spearhead the technical implementation of a range of technologies, including the development of bespoke or heavily customized applications, and the introduction of off-the-shelf IT/Controls applications.
- Facilitate the digitization of the factory floor and implementation of advanced, highly automated manufacturing improvements.
- Conduct feasibility assessments and estimate time and costs for approved use cases.
- Manage projects, design/knowledge documentation, and collaborate with vendors.
- Engage in programming across multiple environments including C#, VB.Net, SQL, Python, Vision, Robotics, PLCs, HMIs.
- Perform database administration and development of SQL (SSRS, SSIS, SSAS).
- Execute validation and documentation tasks.
- Oversee the system handover to site production support.
Qualification and Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Electromechanical Maintenance, or a related discipline.
- 6-8 years of experience in software development, leveraging a strong mix of C# and .Net technologies, databases, web development, and PLC/HMI programming.
- Proven experience in delivering complex plant controls projects to a high standard, with a focus on automation projects in a complex and highly regulated systems environment.
- Fluency in English and Spanish.
- Experience with SAP R/3, Office 2007, forecasting, and planning.
- Willingness to move to or live in Liberia, Guanacaste (100% non-negotiable).
