As an Automation Controls Engineer, you will plan, develop, deploy, and support the plant industrial automation and SCADA systems. You will be reporting to the Engineering Manager and will lead the launch for controls of our integrated paint and assembly factory. The controls engineer will have responsibility for planning and development of all integration of equipment, line controls, station displays, and continuous improvement related projects. This role will work with internal and external teams to complete the development and installation.

YOUR IMPACT: 

  • Develop integrated Manufacturing Execution System (SCADA) for the facility
  • Integrate quality inspections, and torque tool line control features
  • Manage external vendors in support of Operations Controls Systems
  • Work cross-functionally with Operations, Engineering, Quality, Safety, and IT to develop and deploy manufacturing controls
  • Program, update, and trouble shoot automation equipment and PLC’s
  • Identify process improvements in the areas of safety, quality, and productivity
  • Utilize Lean/Six Sigma principles and methodologies in making process improvements
  • Program PLC equipment using Rockwell Studio/Logix5000/500 software products.
  • Use and program Rockwell PowerFlex 52x family, and PowerFlex 75x family VFD products.
  • Have a solid understanding of PLC Networking principals and security.
  • Ability to configure and maintain Rockwell Stratix 5410,5700,5800, 2500 or Cisco equivalent managed network switch equipment.
  • Solid understanding of Industrial PLC Safety system such as Safety PLCs, Sensors, Guarding, Presence Sensing Devices, Two Hand Tie Downs, and Safety Relays.
  • Familiarity with Robot Principals and Programing. ABB and Fanuc
  • Experience with Atlas Copco DC Tooling and Open Protocol/Field bus communications.
  • Electrical cabinet design, schematic drawing, and BOM creation for in plant equipment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including ability to root cause and troubleshoot automated equipment.
  • Understanding of Hydraulic and Pneumatics systems.
  • Capability to work both independently and with multiple functional teams.
  • Provide plant floor production support as required.
  • Experience developing and maintaining SQL databases.
  • Experience with Microsoft Visual Studio C#, and Visual Basic
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, and Project.
  • Provide training and guidance to maintenance staff and trades personnel
  • Determine the root cause of down time and implement error-proofing to prevent them in the future

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, electrical engineering or focus on Controls or Electronics
  • 2-3 years related work experience
  • Hands on plant integration experience developing manufacturing support systems
  • Ability to work flexible hours as required
  • Proficiency with Autocad or Autocad-E software
  • Experience with Rockwell Kinetix family motion drives
  • Experience using OPC servers such as KepwareEX.
  • Experience programming HMI/SCADA products from Rockwell, Ignition, and Maple Systems.

STANDOUT QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master's degree in the related field
  • Master electrician or Journeyman electrician license
  • Knowledge in the electrical build area from panel wiring to debug of automated equipment which includes Floor chain transfer system controls,
  • Knowledge about Factory 4.0 and IIOT applications and integration of AI systems through PLC’s
  • Experience and schooling focused on control systems development
  • Experience in Automotive, Metals, Plastics, Material Handling, Paint, E-Coat industries is a plus.

Pay Range:

$63,500.00 - $101,700.00

The above pay range reflects the minimum and maximum target pay for the position across all U.S. locations. Within this range, individual pay is determined by various factors, including the scope and responsibilities of the role, the candidate's experience, education and skills, as well as the equity of pay among team members in similar positions.
