The Audit Letter Research Assistant is responsible for assisting the Audit Letter Review Committee team members and firm personnel with related client research and the compilation of financial data in connection with responses to audit inquiry requests from clients, and in support of the firm’s compliance protocols.
JOB DESCRIPTION
- Assist in the identification of potentially related clients through corporate and conflicts database research in connection with a client’s request for an audit response letter.
- Communicate with attorneys and their assistants, and coordinate with the Audit Letter Research Lead Analyst, Compliance / Audit Letter Attorney and Assistant General Counsel.
- Guide and instruct assistants throughout the process of completion of audit letter requests.
- Review audit inquiry letters to determine parameters of requested information to be compiled and assist in identifying issues that might need to be addressed.
- Become proficient in understanding and review of available subscription databases (such as Orbis’s Corporate Family Tree), the New Business Intake system and the conflicts of interest databases.
- Review financial systems data and accounting related reports; verify report totals, including cross entity totals, to ensure accurate reporting. Become proficient in compiling complete audit information requests after reviewing all pertinent information.
- Periodically meet with Audit Letter Review Committee team members in connection with review and modification of practices and procedures in support of efficiency and compliance protocols.
- General administrative and clerical duties, including meaningful maintenance of databases and records to retain future value for multiple users.
- Assist with special projects/assignments as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Analytical reasoning ability is essential.
- Strict attention to detail and excellent writing skills are a must.
- Must possess strong organizational skills.
- Must be able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with all levels of attorneys and staff.
- Must have excellent knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
- Must have the ability to multi-task, prioritize and follow through with issues in order to meet critical deadlines and maintain compliance objectives while working under pressure in a demanding environment.
- One (1)+ year experience in corporate analysis, compliance, conflicts of interest, or comparable research skills preferred.
- One (1)+ year experience in a professional services environment preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of practical experience and training/education.
HOURS
Core hours are Monday through Friday 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. (including lunch hour). Must be very flexible to work overtime to complete assignments, particularly during peak periods.
The annualized salary range for this position is $48,000 to $55,000 depending on the candidate's overall experience and other job-related factors permitted by law. Full time employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus. In addition, full time employees as well as some part time employees, will be eligible for the firm’s fringe benefits as they currently exists.
