If you’re looking for an alternative to university where you can build a professional career from day one, this could be the role for you.

At Ballards, our award-winning team of chartered accountants combines technical excellence with a modern, collaborative approach. From our offices in Worcester, Droitwich, and Birmingham, we work with clients across a wide range of industries, helping them strengthen their financial foundations and plan for long-term success.

About the Apprenticeship

Our Audit & Accounts Apprenticeship programme is designed to give ambitious school leavers a clear, supported route into a career in audit and business advisory – without going to university.

You’ll join our Audit & Accounts team and gain hands-on experience from the start. You’ll work directly with clients, supporting audit engagements, analysing financial information, and helping to ensure businesses report accurately and transparently. You’ll spend time on client sites, work as part of collaborative teams, and learn how different businesses operate in practice.

Alongside your role, you’ll study towards the AAT qualification. Your training will be fully funded by Ballards, with structured study support, mentoring, and guidance from experienced professionals to help you progress with confidence.

About you

We’re looking for curious, analytical school leavers who are keen to learn and interested in how businesses operate.

You’ll need:

  • Strong academic results (A-levels and GCSEs or equivalent)
  • A logical, detail-focused approach to work
  • Strong communication skills and a willingness to ask questions
  • A proactive attitude and enthusiasm for learning on the job

No previous audit or accounting experience is required – we’ll provide full training and support.

About the rewards

  • Earn while you learn in a professional environment
  • Early responsibility and client exposure
  • Hands-on experience across audit and accounts
  • Hybrid and flexible working
  • 25 days annual leave, plus bank holidays
  • Clear career progression opportunities
  • Electric car and cycle-to-work schemes
  • Life assurance and pension plan
  • Enhanced family and compassionate leave
