- Package content that encourages audience engagement to stay on the page longer or view more pages per visit
- Update NewsNation digital platforms (website, app, email, push alerts) with breaking news and topical news of the day
- Craft compelling headlines, layouts, ledes and snippets that encourage followers to engage with our journalism
- Optimize NewsNation content for site, YouTube and other platforms using SEO best practices and data-informed layout decisions
- Edit wire and local network-affiliated content for a national audience to ensure standards for journalistic integrity and production quality are met
- Pitch stories daily and write stories specifically in trending verticals
- Assist in the curation and production of daily newsletters
- Create digital-first content that accomplishes the NewsNation mission and differentiates our brand from our competitors
- This position will be based in Chicago or New York.
Qualifications
- 3+ years working as a digital producer or audience engagement specialist in a major market or national newsroom.
- Experience managing and curating homepages + app
- Experience with optimizing content using SEO best practices for site, YouTube and other platforms
- Strong news judgement and ability to determine when local stories have national appeal
- Editing experience a plus
- Experience working with Chartbeat, Photoshop, AHREFS, Google Trends, newsletter platforms like Sailthru and Aigeon a plus
- Excellent communicator, both oral and written
- Early morning, late night and/or weekend shifts may be required
- Bachelor’s degree in journalism, advertising or marketing or an equivalent combination of education and work-related experience
Salary Range: $60,000 - $80,000
