Role: AU Intermediate Tax Accountant
Location: Remote (with onsite schedules upon client request)

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Intermediate to Senior Accountant based in the Philippines with strong expertise in Australian accounting and tax. This role extends beyond compliance, requiring solid technical knowledge and the ability to support business advisory services.

You will collaborate with onshore team members and support clients across compliance, reporting, and advisory functions, contributing to high-quality financial outcomes and insights.

Key Responsibilities

Compliance & Tax

  • Prepare financial statements and income tax returns for Australian entities (companies, trusts, individuals)
  • Process and review Division 7A calculations and loan reconciliations
  • Prepare Capital Gains Tax (CGT) calculations, including applicable concessions
  • Prepare and review BAS and IAS
  • Ensure compliance with Australian tax legislation and regulatory requirements

Business Advisory Support

  • Assist in delivering business advisory services
  • Prepare management reports, including profit & loss analysis, balance sheet reviews, and KPI tracking
  • Contribute to client-ready financial commentary and insights
  • Support identification of risks and opportunities within client businesses

Management Reporting & Forecasting

  • Prepare and maintain cashflow forecasts
  • Assist with budgeting and scenario analysis
  • Provide variance analysis and financial insights

Month-End Close & Accounting

  • Perform month-end close processes including reconciliations, journal entries, and accruals
  • Review general ledger accuracy and ensure timely reporting

Systems & Process

  • Work within Xero and other cloud-based accounting tools
  • Support improvements in workflows and reporting processes
  • Maintain accurate documentation and working papers
Qualifications

Essential

  • 2+ years of accounting experience, preferably with Australian clients
  • Strong knowledge of Australian tax, including Division 7A, Capital Gains Tax, and income tax compliance
  • Experience preparing financial statements and tax returns
  • Solid background in month-end close and financial reporting
  • Proficiency in Xero and Microsoft Excel
  • Experience navigating the ATO portal
  • Experience working with Australian accounting firms
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently

Desirable

  • Experience in business advisory or client-facing work
  • Experience preparing cashflow forecasts and management reports
  • Ability to provide written financial commentary and insights
  • Exposure to complex structures (groups, trusts, inter-entity transactions)
