Athlete Marketing Manager
SUMMARY
Do you love to talk shop, sling product and highlight what makes something the best? Do you thrive when organizing and working events, connecting with athletes and media and existing in the often times chaotic world that is professional sporting events? If yes, we need you. Specialized is seeking a dedicated full time Athletes Marketing Manager. This role is one where you will spend your working time traveling to races, events and marketing activities with multiple facets to your daily work. You will be connecting across large groups of people, educating athletes and media about Specialized product, coordinating marketing events or efforts with our professional athletes and at the races dealing with all of the daily business of running a successful Sports Marketing operation
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND OUTPUTS
- Educate teams and athletes on key product highlights
- Develop relationship with key sponsored athletes to ensure they’re delivering on marketing
expectations
- Speak with media to make them aware of key performance features and benefits of Specialized products
- Organize yearly marketing calendar with the Global Marketing team and Product teams
- Organize events with key athletes across all global business markets
- Coordinate and activate on Social Media platforms during events
- Coordinate contractors and photographers for races/products press releases
- Physical on ground presence during races and events to organize all details
- Coordinate between project managers and sponsored teams or athletes to ensure all events proceed without any problems
- Center of marketing communication channel between Global Marketing, Specialized supported road teams and media
- Be able to assist with coordination of technical training for team mechanics on special or new products
KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
Academic background
< A knowledge of professional sports or Sports or Marketing related degrees
< Ability to learn and understand the technology behind Specialized Product knowledge is required
< Basic bike mechanic skills are a plus
< College education is required
Experience
< Experience in Microsoft Office and Outlook
< Experience with all social media platforms and marketing basics
< Intense travel is required – up to 80% of the time working will be traveling
- Home office when not traveling European based
< Strong networking skills
< Strong organization and multitasking skills
< Strong interpersonal skills are required
< English language required, other language knowledge is a big plus- Italian, Spanish, French
< Team player, dedicated to get the job done and fit into our company culture
< Hard worker: flexible and solution oriented
< Experience in cycling is required
< Valid EU/EEA passport and driver’s license
Language skills
< English (fluent) French, Italian Spanish are a significant bonus
