Summary Generated by Built In

Cohu's Norwood Engineering team is looking for an ATE Test Systems Support Engineer to keep our semiconductor automated test equipment (ATE) running in the Engineering Lab. This is a hands-on hardware/software role supporting test systems, testers, and RF/analog/digital measurement equipment used by our Hardware, Software, and Applications Engineering teams. You'll diagnose and resolve tester-level hardware and software issues, track spares for lab equipment, and work directly with engineers to keep test systems at maximum up time. Over time, this role has a path toward supporting our Field Service organization on the same equipment.

Candidates should have direct experience with test equipment, ATE, or electronics hardware.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Deliver hands-on hardware and software support to Engineering teams to maximize uptime of internal ATE test systems (LTXC product line).

  • Diagnose and resolve tester-level issues — RF, analog, and digital circuit faults, measurement discrepancies, and equipment malfunctions — by evaluating and analyzing failure symptoms directly on the equipment.

  • Research issues using tester documentation, schematics, and internal resources; escalate priority issues per standard process.

  • Track and maintain accurate spares inventory to support internal test equipment.

  • Log and process service tickets accurately using current tools.

  • Partner with the Technical Support team to reproduce customer-reported issues on internal systems to drive faster resolution.

Education and/or Experience:

  • BSEE (or equivalent hands-on experience with electronic test equipment)

  • Working knowledge of RF, analog, and digital circuits and test equipment — RF experience strongly preferred

  • Hands-on experience troubleshooting hardware at the board/system level (not just software/network troubleshooting)

  • Linux environment experience a plus

  • Test Engineering or ATE background strongly preferred

  • Strong communication skills for working directly with engineers on technical root cause

Compensation: The estimated base pay range for this position is $85,000-$100,000 per year, depending on qualifications, experience, education, and other job-related factors. This range represents Cohu’s good faith estimate of what it reasonably expects to pay for this role upon hire. This role may also be eligible for other compensation programs as determined by company policy.
