The Role

Who You'll Work With:

AllianceBernstein’s Commercial Real Estate Debt Team (“CRE Debt Team”) is seeking a bright and highly motivated commercial real estate Associate to join its rapidly-growing investment platform. Since its inception in 2013, the CRE Debt Team has successfully invested approximately $10 billion across four investment vehicles. To date, the platform has primarily invested in floating-rate transitional first-mortgage loans secured by major property types in key markets throughout the United States. We have recently launched multiple new investment vehicles which expand the investment profile to include mezzanine loans, distressed debt, loan acquisitions and participations, fixed rate loans, construction loans, and net lease investments. Established processes and systems are in place to reinforce the discipline required to excel across all facets of the broadened investment mandate, including experienced deal sourcing, meticulous underwriting, comprehensive investor reporting, and proven asset management. The candidate will have an outstanding opportunity to develop a broad range of financial, credit, real estate underwriting, analytical, marketing, and presentation skills.

What You'll Do:

  • Supporting senior members of the team in evaluating potential investment opportunities across various property types and markets

  • Managing credit underwriting and financial analysis of new investment opportunities

  • Creating and maintaining financial models and sensitivity analyses

  • Assisting with creating initial screening memos and final investment memos which will be presented before the Investment Committee

  • Interacting professionally with internal credit, legal, and loan origination personnel and externally with borrowers and third-party service providers before, during, and after closing

  • Assisting with CRE Debt Team’s internal transaction pipeline

  • Assisting with the asset management process and other special projects and assignments as they may arise

What We're Looking For:

  • Bachelor’s Degree from a top university with prior coursework in finance and economics preferred

  • A minimum of two years of professional experience including significant financial modeling experience. Prior experience in commercial real estate debt, real estate private equity or investment banking preferred.

  • Strong verbal and  written communication skills; ability to converse with individuals at all levels including borrowers and third-party providers

  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel as well as industry-specific tools (i.e. Argus, CoStar, etc.)

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects concurrently
