As an Associate Wealth Advisor, Family Office Solutions, you will be responsible for supporting partners in wealth planning related work for our ultra-high net-worth individual and client family relationships served by the Family Office Solutions team.
Working with the Regional Wealth Advisors, you will be responsible for collecting, reviewing, and synthesizing personal and wealth profile data and modeling strategies and solutions. The role entails creation of subject matter decks and meeting materials, some light research, creation of detailed balance sheets and estate flow charts, reviewing and synthesizing of estate planning documents, along with collaboration with the broader wealth management teams.
You will have varying degrees of client interaction depending upon the nature of a client’s projects and needs, but you will not have client relationships of your own. Additionally, you will be responsible for providing overall support to the Regional Wealth Advisors and, when appropriate, to the Family Office Solutions team. Given the nature of the clients served, you will interface with teams and groups across the wealth management spectrum.
This position can be a career choice or a steppingstone along your career path, but it is an interactive and collaborative role supporting the Regional Wealth Advisors with a focus on knowledge, growth, and development.
This is NOT an investment focused position.
Major Duties Include:
1. Collect, organize, and maintain client personal and estate planning profile data.
2. Review and synthesize client profile data and assist in the design of client profiles and wealth plans integrating wealth management, wealth transfer, and tax efficiency goals.
3. Prepare detailed balance sheets by reviewing source documents to ensure proper ownership.
4. Prepare comprehensive flow charts that incorporate all estate planning and business entity documents.
5. Coordinate internal and external communications and meetings with prospects, clients, partners, and external advisors.
4. Communicate with internal and external partners, professional advisors, and others to obtain and deliver wealth plan related information.
6. Conduct fundamental research related to estate planning solutions and strategies.
7. Prepare presentations for client meetings.
8. Help manage daily operational activities and supervise day-to-day work of junior level employees (but not a formal management role).
9. Perform light administrative duties required of the role, including travel and expense reporting for Family Office Solutions partners, preparation of meeting materials, pipeline management, meeting scheduling, etc.
10. Attention to detail is a requirement so proofing is an important part of the job.
The successful candidate will benefit from having:
· 2-4 years estate and financial planning and analysis experience with high-income/net worth individuals and families desired.
· A familiarity with wealth transfer strategies, rudimentary estate and gift tax rules, and basic planning concepts like retirement and education planning
· A basic understanding of wills, trusts and ancillary estate planning documents
· Expected to have or be pursuing professional designations including CFP®, CPA, JD, MBA and similar evidence of advanced learning and professional qualification.
· Strong presentation and communication skills (written and verbal)
· Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines with strong time management and organizational skills
· Must possess high attention to detail and well-developed proof-reading skills
· An intellectually curious, self-starter
· Highly proficient in Excel and PowerPoint; Proficient in Outlook, Word, Adobe Acrobat, and Visio. Ability to learn other software platforms.
Salary Range:
$99,600 - 169,200 USDSalary range is a good faith estimate of base pay. Northern Trust provides a comprehensive benefits package including retirement benefits (401k and pension), health and welfare benefits (medical, dental, vision, spending accounts and disability), paid time off, parental and caregiver leave, life & accident insurance, and other voluntary and well-being benefits. Northern Trust also provides a discretionary bonus program that may include an equity component.
