This is an onsite role at our Windsor, Nova Scotia Canada location. Relocation is provided.

The BIOVECTRA Associate Vice President Operations will be responsible to align and drive the necessary resources within operations and manufacturing to meet established production targets. This position will oversee operations to insure production efficiency, quality, service, and cost-effective management of resources. This role will ensure that processes are produced in a qualified and validated state such that they are compliant with cGMP, ICH, and FDA guidance. This role establishes strategic manufacturing plans for continued efficiencies and growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Providing leadership over Supply Chain, Planning, Manufacturing, Technical Operations in the completion of the corporation’s manufacturing and operational goals.

  • Responsible for the business unit financial objectives; mainly revenue, operating profit and expense management.

  • Identifying and implementing policies to improve capabilities and efficiencies through metrics analysis, training, professional development, and mentoring.

  • Decision making, prioritizing and managing work units including the work of various subordinates and/or team members.

  • Governance of the unit operational budget. Manage budgeting and budget execution with a focus on quality, product costs and margins.

  • Working with engineering in the selection and design of process equipment required to carry out of the process or strategic goals.

  • Working with other disciplines to align manufacturing plans, goals, and future product innovations with the firm’s strategic growth plans.

  • Ensuring that manufacturing capabilities meet or exceed all industry and customer requirements for cost, quality, and responsiveness.

  • Approving project evaluations, planning, and costing.

  • Interacting/communicating directly with clients playing a lead role in senior level negotiations with client companies and manufacturing partners.

  • Approving of operational procedures, policies, and standards.

  • Supporting and ensuring unit’s training and compliance meet all regulatory requirements.

  • Providing regular progress updates and reports. Identifying any exception reports and plans to circumvent roadblocks.

  • Administering HR policy with respect to subordinates including developing performance standards, hiring, conducting performance reviews and assisting with managing the continued professional and business development of direct reports.

  • Adhering to BIOVECTRA’s Health and Safety Policy as outlined in CP0010 Occupational Health and safety Policy, Statements of Principle, and Responsibilities.

Operational Excellence / Continuous Improvement:

  • Providing Operational Excellence / Continuous Improvement to Biovectra.

  • Sponsoring Continuous Improvement initiatives to improve Project Management operations through the implementation of enhanced processes, including the optimization of existing technology.

  • Continuously challenge the status quo to drive a culture of change, coaching and capability building at BIOVECTRA, through a methodical, data-driven approach to problem-solving with an emphasis on root cause problem-solving and sustaining improvements.

  • Proactively help develop a culture that embraces a high level of commitment to accomplish efficiently and delivering on promises.

  • Influences positive and accountable professional behaviors.

  • Identifying opportunities for improved efficiencies and cost savings to help deliver best value for the organization.

Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of a wide range of technical skills and unit operations related to both Biotech and API manufacturing processes.

  • Demonstrates leadership, negotiation, decision making skills.

  • Strong knowledge of the ICH Guidelines and cGMP’s is required.

  • Professional level written, computer, organizational and communication skills are mandatory.

Qualifications

  •  Bachelor of Science or equivalent broad leadership experience in Engineering, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Microbiology or a closely related discipline

  •  Business experience is a desired asset

  • 12+ years of relevant industrial experience is required

  • 5+ years of management experience leading a large manufacturing team

  • Ability to develop financial plans and manage resources. Ability to analyze and interpret financial data

Additional Details

This job has a full time weekly schedule.

The full-time equivalent pay range for this position is $187,272.00 - $292,613.00/yr CAD plus eligibility for bonus, stock and benefits. Our pay ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
