Associate - Trademark protection and management (IP, Data and Technology Team)

Dentons Italy is currently looking to grow its Intellectual Property, Data and Technology group with the appointment of an Associate based in our Milan office, who will be responsible for the management of trademark and design portfolios of our clients, providing advice on filing strategies and assistance on prosecution matters.

Key responsibilities

• Advising on trademark protection and management strategies at national and international levels.
• Conducting trademark clearance searches and assessing potential conflicts.
• Drafting and managing trademark and design applications with national (UIBM), European (EUIPO), and international (WIPO) offices.
• Monitoring registered trademarks to prevent potential infringements.
• Handling opposition proceedings, cancellation actions, and revocation procedures against conflicting trademarks.
• Assisting in disputes and litigation related to trademark and design infringements, including cease and desist letters, negotiations and legal actions.
• Drafting and negotiating trademark licensing, assignment and coexistence agreements.
• Supporting due diligence processes related to trademark, patent and design portfolios in M&A transactions.
• Collaborating with customs authorities to protect trademarks against counterfeiting.
• Coordinating with the Dentons network to ensure trademark protection across various jurisdictions.

• Italian Law Degree with a minimum score of 105/110.
• Current license to practice law in Italy and/or to act as professional representative before the UIBM and the EUIPO.
• Between 2 and 5 years PQE in the field of trademark protection and management, gained in a comparable law firm or industrial property consulting company.
• High level of English (Certificate C1). Other foreign languages are a plus.
