Job: Associate Technical Manager
Shift: Days (Required: On call support 24/7)
Location: Mars Petcare (Kansas City, Mo)
This position contributes sound people management, technical problem solving and project management skills to protect and manage the factory's building and equipment. It requires adherence to planning and scheduling best practices, providing technical solutions for plant issues and managing the storeroom to achieve department objectives. This position manages both internal and external resources to support activities at the site. This position also actively participates and contributes to the success of area continuous improvement teams and supports the site security, safety, quality, and environmental programs.
Continuous improvement is a key aspect of this role. It will be accomplished through developing and maintaining a technical group that increases factory rates and utilization.
What are we looking for?Minimum Qualifications:
5+ years experience in a manufacturing environment in a leadership capacity.
3+ years’ experience in a supervisory or managerial role.
Working knowledge of Programmable Logic Control.
Working knowledge of Electrical Systems.
Working knowledge of Mechanical Systems.
Working knowledge of compressed air system and components.
Working knowledge of Preventative Maintenance (PM) Programs.
Demonstrated experience working in Safety.
Ability to convey communications clearly and concisely.
Understanding of major functions within the plant and the ability to work directly with all levels and functions.
Ability to work any shift as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with Reading Electrical Blue Prints.
Experience with SAP.
Experience with continuous improvement tools such as TPM.
1+ year experience in a food production environment.
7+ years in a Production Environment.
5+ years in a supervisory or managerial role.
Project Management experience.
Experience with planning and managing a site's maintenance budget.
Ability to tolerate an ambiguous environment.
Working knowledge of OSHA/EPA requirements and related guidelines.
Working knowledge of property protection insurance requirements.
Working knowledge of boilers and cooling towers.
Working Knowledge of high voltage systems.
Conversion. Actively participate and collaborate with all functional areas to properly maintain and improve the plant assets to deliver metrics (Plant Service Level (PSL), TRS, productivity, quality, safety, waste reduction, etc.) within the assigned area.
Change Agent - Develop, implement, and maintain a comprehensive reliability improvement program, which will ensure all equipment is maintained in a safe and reliable method. Manage the PM Pillar implementation to develop a World Class Reliability Team. Keep abreast of all ISS activities and manage gaps accordingly with their team.
Associate Advocacy - Effectively manage direct reports to ensure maintenance best practices are being followed and developed. Ensure that each report has results-based objectives, timely performance reviews, and appropriate career development counseling. Ensure that each maintenance associate has the necessary skills to meet their job expectations and develop a detailed improvement program where necessary.
Technology Advancement - Technically support maintenance technicians in performing the engineering and maintenance tasks.
Area Strategy - Manage Maintenance costs to ensure the budgeting process is accurate and the department meets the business requirements. Conduct monthly LE reviews with the regional finance representative to accurately forecast and accrue. Participate in all Engineering Projects in assigned areas to ensure that reliability, maintainability, cost effectiveness, and safety requirements are delivered. Write, justify, submit and execute site discretionary projects as assigned. Provide Safety, Security, and Environmental advice/counsel to site staff regarding issues which may have an impact on the site.
Operations Strategy - Provide Safety, Security, and Environmental advice/counsel to site staff regarding issues which may have an impact on the site. Establish working relationships with the different operations teams to be able to effectively communicate priorities at the different Connection Points.
Personal Development - Keep abreast of managerial and technical competencies both within and outside Mars Petcare US.
