Job Description:
The Strategic Portfolio Management team, under the Portfolio Strategy & Program Execution team, supports Northern Trust’s Wealth Management (WM) business unit through the administration, management, and governance of its financial and human resource investments and portfolio of work.
As such, the team oversees processes designed to ensure strategic alignment across projects, investment decisions supported by robust business cases, insight and transparency into the portfolio of work, management of dependencies, achievement of outcomes, and accountability at all levels.
The Associate Specialist will support the Strategic Portfolio Manager in various areas such as financial and human resource demand, business case development, and performance management. In this role, you will need to be a leader who is analytical, action-oriented, a great communicator, and comfortable driving change through influence.
You will interact with Wealth Management senior leaders, Product, and Technology partners to foster an innovative and integrated environment, resulting in an optimized portfolio with clear priorities and expected outcomes.
Major Duties:
Process Development and Management
Create, improve, and/or manage multiple strategic processes including business case development, performance goal setting and management, and ROI/value realization framework
Business Administration
Coordinate and facilitate governance forums where initiative business cases are presented for investment consideration. Facilitate completion of business cases by requesting teams.
Meet with WM leadership to gather, understand and maintain a future-focused initiative list.
Coordinate and prepare quarterly WM capital presentation materials.
Work with initiative owners to define overarching goals using the objectives & key results (OKRs) framework. Actively maintain OKRs and create summary reporting, as needed.
Collaborate with the other Strategic Portfolio Management team members to maintain portfolio roadmap, track dependencies and key risks, maintain up-to-date financial data, and escalate potential issues.
Create ad-hoc financial analysis, reports and presentations, including summary views, for various senior stakeholders.
Demonstrate a proactive and persistent approach to work, driving open items to completion consistently and independently.

Salary Range:
$83,100 - 141,300 USDSalary range is a good faith estimate of base pay. Northern Trust provides a comprehensive benefits package including retirement benefits (401k and pension), health and welfare benefits (medical, dental, vision, spending accounts and disability), paid time off, parental and caregiver leave, life & accident insurance, and other voluntary and well-being benefits. Northern Trust also provides a discretionary bonus program that may include an equity component.
