Associate Software Engineer
Remote / Contract-to-hire / US-based candidates
About the Role
We’re hiring a Software Engineer to help build the core systems behind our platform. This is a hands-on role where you'll contribute to the development of software that modernizes how property managers handle receivables and renters manage payments. You'll work closely with the CTO and other team members to build new features, integrate with external systems, and ensure a seamless, secure experience for our users.
This is an ideal opportunity for an engineer with several years of experience who wants to grow into a high-ownership role while working in a startup environment. We're a remote-first team.
Our company is seed-funded and actively working with some of the largest property operators in the country.
Responsibilities
- Build and maintain backend services and user-facing applications
- Help design APIs and data models to support financial workflows
- Integrate with banking, PMS, and payment processing systems
- Contribute to system reliability, testing, and documentation
- Collaborate with the CTO and team to plan and deliver features
- Write clean, maintainable code and participate in code reviews
Requirements
- 1–3 years of professional software engineering experience
- Proficiency in backend development (Node.js, TypeScript, or similar)
- Familiarity with React, GraphQL, Postgres, and AWS
- Strong problem-solving and debugging skills
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, evolving environment
- Clear communication and a collaborative mindset
Nice-to-Have
- Experience with fintech or proptech systems
- Prior experience at an early-stage startup
- Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code or DevOps workflows
- Payment API experience (Stripe, USAePay, etc)
