The Boeing Company is seeking a junior Software Engineer to join our Boeing Commercial Airplanes Product Development support team in Everett, WA, performing investigation, research, development, and testing of next generation automation and autonomous systems, as well as new feature development for development programs. The team takes on new engineering challenges to serve the objectives of enhancing safety, improving pilot experience, and increasing operational efficiency, for current and future Boeing airplane products.
We employ a rapid prototyping, continuous integration and deployment approach, using simulation and flying testbeds, to enable fast-paced iterations of algorithm and software development.
A successful candidate for this position will be someone who holds a strong software engineering background, possesses a proactive attitude with a team first mindset, and is passionate about bringing new features into our airplanes.
Position Responsibilities:
  • Design and develop prototype and production software systems and components including, but not limited to, automation and autonomous functionalities, sensor integration and processing, flight controls and actuation, test platforms, support tools, control and monitoring applications
  • Apply disciplined requirements gathering and design documentation
  • Design and develop unit tests, integration tests, and evaluation frameworks
  • Participate in technology and code review
  • Own continuous integration and deployment of software components
  • Follow software best practices where applicable

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/ Experience):
  • 1+ years of experience programming in C, C++ or C#
  • 1+ years of experience scripting with Bash and Python
  • 1+ years of experience working with Linux
  • 1+ years of experience working with Cloud platforms
  • 1+ years of experience working with Agile methodology

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
  • Experience with container technologies such as Docker or Kubernetes
  • Experience with any of the common libraries such as numpy, PCL, OpenCV, TensorFlow, PyTorch, or TensorRT
  • Knowledge of databases and automated data pipelines (on-prem or cloud)
  • Knowledge of full stack development and frameworks such as HTML/JS/CSS, Angular, React, Express, Node.js, Flask/Django, and REST API
  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.
Summary Pay Range: $83,300 - $112,700
