Job Purpose and Impact
The Associate Software Engineer - Bioindustrial job assists with designing, developing and maintaining software applications and systems for manufacturing plants in our global bio-based specialty chemicals business. As part of a digital product team, under close supervision, this job collaborates with cross functional teams to help implement new software features to meet user needs and business goals and upgrade existing software to improve performance and functionality through writing clean, efficient and scalable code and troubleshooting and debugging standard issues. This job also participates in code reviews to maintain high code quality and learn from software engineering team members.
Key Accountabilities• SOFTWARE DEVELOPMENT: Assists with designing and developing high quality software solutions by writing clean, maintainable and efficient code.• AUTOMATION: Partners to apply internal software deployment platform, methodologies and tools to automate the deployment process, ensuring smooth and reliable releases.• COLLABORATION: Coordinates cross functional team of product managers other engineers, manufacturing and supply chain specialists, and commercial decision-makers to help gather requirements and deliver resolutions that meet business needs and deliver reliability goals.• TESTING & DEBUGGING: Writes and maintains standard unit tests and integration tests, and performs debugging to maintain the quality and performance of the software.• CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT: Makes suggestions for improving the software development and deployment processes, and partners to implement the approved standards to improve efficiency and reliability.• DOCUMENTATION: Maintains comprehensive documentation for software applications, deployment processes and system configurations.• TECHNICAL SUPPORT: Provides technical support and troubleshooting for standard issues with deployed applications to ensure minimal downtime and fast resolution.

Qualifications• No minimum years of relevant experience required. Typically reflects 2 years or more of relevant experience.• Knowledge of full-stack application development using technologies and frameworks such as:
* Java (Spring Boot; experience using compiled languages and frameworks to build and deploy enterprise-grade applications, and why it matters compared to...)
* Python (working knowledge of when to use an interpretated language instead in an app dev context)
* React (or similar front-end framework)
* Docker (working knowledge of why it matters to containerize applications for secure, stable deployments)
* GoLang (growing alternative to Java for back-end - what are is advantages? [simpler syntax, optimized for micro service arch, faster startup and performance when threaded appropriately)• Familiarity or interest in managing and working within manufacturing processes and environment.
Preferred Qualifications• Experience or interest in developing, integrating, or enabling AI driven solutions in production• Fluent Dutch language skills - verbal and written - will be considered an advantage.

Skills Required
